Offline | Squeaky Wipers I hope this hasn't been posted previously - I searched the forums but couldn't find it. I'm just curious if anybody has had a squeaking noise when using their windscreen wipers? i've checked the blades and they seem fine - the problem is when the wipers are moving across the windscreen they create a terribly annoying squeak that is driving me insane to the point that i have the wipers set at intermittent even in heavy rain. i know this aint a major thing but any assistance / suggestions would be appreciated ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | I have had this - more often than not it's when there isn't very much water on the windscreen. I suppose the heavier the rain, the less friction there is so the less likely they are to squeak. My wipers have more of a thump when they are at the top of the window and turning round to head back down... If the squeaking perseveres I would try a new set of wipers - how many miles have you done with them? 54 Cooper, BEP/Black, Chilli Pack, ASC+T, SS+, Alarm, CD Boost, 16" FIN Alloys, Anthracite Headlining, Xenons, Multi-function S/Wheel, Driving Lamps, sh*t build quality... ![]() Now SOLD!!! Goodbye MINIs and good riddance.... |

Offline | hi there - not a lot of mileage actually, i've put maybe 4,000 miles on the clock. i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one with this problem tho - i thought maybe i was being overly sensitive thanks for the response - maybe new wiper blades are indeed the only answer! |

Offline | A decent set of new wipers like Bosch will probably be the answer. This noise is made worse though if you don't wash the windscreen in a mild cleaner (NO wax in it), rinse thoroughly and dry with a chamois. This is a bit fussy but if the noise irritates. ![]() Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs |

Offline | Slightly OT... I've just fitted some Bosch replacements, bought from Halfords. I've got the size they suggested (19) but they're terrible! The driver side wiper does not clean downwards what the passenger side wiper swept across. So there's always water down the windscreen between the two ![]() Maybe I should swap for 18s. Is it me, or are these supposed to work? |
