Unhappy Misfire when cold engine? Warranty almost over!

Hi motorers,

Since one week, my little MCS had some problems in the morning, or after not running for a while... It sounds like it's missing gaz for the first 5 minutes of driving and really drives strange... engine is stumbling, at RPM has a hard time to go up...

This morning, it was worst, the Check Engine Light started to flash and stayed on after 1 minute.... So I pulled off in a small parking lot, and I checked that CEL with my OBD reader, it was a Misfire Cylinder 4... I cleared the codes, started the engine again, and everything was fine...

What is the problem with my MCS? I'm now at 79500km, at my warranty is almost over... I would really appreciate any help! Could it be my spark plugs, which are still good for another 10 000km (Accel spark plugs from the Pilo ignition kit) Or something more expemsive, and I should take a last appointment at my dealer before warranty is over?

Thanks a lot!

Same thing happened this morning...

But yesterday, I left my MINI warm a bit in my parking lot before driving and everything was fine...

Does anyone knows what's the problem with my MINI, or help me finding..?

Thanks for any help!

If you're still under warranty, I'd definately head for the dealer. Next time, don't clear the fault codes, though. Give the dealer something to work with besides your word that there was a misfire fault code.

The problem is that my MINI dealer is 2 hours away from my home... and I don't think I'll be able to get my MINI at the dealer before the warranty goes off... I'm at 79600km and there is only 400km left on my warranty...

I've just ordered Bosch Platinum +4 spark plugs, to replace my "old" Accel ones, and I really hope this will fix that annoying problem...

Does anyone had this problem before? (rough engine, really rough!, when engine is cold, but everything is fine as soon as the temp needle starts to move up..)

Thanks for any help!!

DarkMCS, looking foward to get an answer as soon as possible!

Call Roadside Assistance and have them towed ur car to the nearest dealer... that should work.... so u can save a bit on ur warranty

Finally, I've managed to find 2 solutions:

First, I've order and receive a set of Bosch Platinum +4 spark plugs amd I'll install them tomorrow!

And, I've got an appointment at my MINI dealer on Friday... So hopefully, they'll check my fuel pump and tell me if it is still good!

Thanks for the help!

any updates

just started having the same problem a few days ago i also have the pilo ignition upgrade with different wires but i have the coil pack and everything. I wasn't able to get to work this morning cause i barley made it down the block .....yes everything seems to be normal after the motor tends to get hot. Please let me know what the dealer said. Is it a clutch issue or what?
