i've only had my cooper 5 days (haven't got it today as it's back with the dealer to have several rattles dealt with!) it should have a factory fitted alarm but i've no flashing red LED to tell me that there's one, or more importantly, any would-be thieves!
Is it standard that there's no flashing light?? I don't even know what it'd sound like if it was going off!!!

If you don't have the flashing red light, you don't have the factory alarm fitted, it's that simple!

For cars built before 1/05, the flashing red light is on the end of the wiper stalk. For cars built after 1/05, the low washer fluid warning light lives there so the flashing red light is relocated to the end of the turn signal stalk.

Also, at least on the newer models, when you unlock the car, it will beep twice if you have the alarm fitted, and beep once when locking the car.

Mine (04 MCS) doesn't beep - maybe this is a dealer-settable option...
