Offline | MCS wants to stall on warm days Hi everyone, I live in the country & not very often drive in stop start traffic. I have an intermittent problem when occasionally driving in stop start traffic where the engine revs occasionally drop so low that the car wants to & does, stall. This happens in warm and average temperatures with the A/C on or off. Though I have Climate I only use the A/C if the temperature outside requires it. On the occasions the engine stalls, I restart the car & keep the revs up a bit then it seems to run ok. Just wondering if this has happeed to anyone else. PS When I took car back to get oil change(requested by me at 3000KM) I told them about this & they thought the EGR??.....might be blocked & they checked that. But this intermittent problem remains. Thanks..Mike In Australia ![]() |

Offline | MCS wants to stall on warm days Hello & thankyou for your reply EBMCS03, perhaps I should have added to my post that my car is an '05 year MCS, manufactured in Sep '04 with JCW, though it did it before the fitment of the JCW too. In your opinion, would that still make the V.40. software the cause? Thanks..Mike. ![]() |

| M5 Extraordinare! | No V.40 is not the cause... I'm gussing that the upcomming V.40 software should fix it. As reported here http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...ght=rough+idle most people got it in V.39. I think it existed before 39 but oh wells... I am running V36 and I dont have the rough idle and I remember being afraid of getting V36 because people said it introduced the rough idle. and I thought 38 helped alieve it a bit but it doesnt sound like the case. I remember reading somewhere that someone said the upcomming V.40 will "fix" it. So I'm assuming right now you are running V38 or V39 thats why you have the rough idle problem. |

| M5 Extraordinare! | Oh here you go. http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=58774&onlybyuserid=0&page=25&pp=1 5&highlight=rough+idle read from post 364 on. Has some talk about the rough idle and V.40 maybe I confused rough idle with the yoyo problem.. thinking that there will be a fix in 40. |

Offline | Hi Mike, Also might be worth checking to see what type of fuel you use (RON and volatility), as I know up here Queensland we have idle and cold start problems and they can be linked to the volatility of the fuel we use. The MINI is sensitive to the volatility of the fuel, so get on to your fuel supplier and ask them what the volatility is at the moment. (They have to know due to gov regs and they normally tweak it month by month depending on your location and the current temperature). Also they tweak the volatility based on the number of complaints they receive. Snoopy ps MINI have been trying to fix it with software but as there are only two global program maps for fuel, I don't think they will be considering our fuel problems to highly. |

| Mini Mad | Hey Mike, I had the same problem with my MC after I took delivery. When I took it back to the dealer, they picked-up that there was a "No-throttle" signal to the engine management system or something to that affect. They simply checked and tightened the connectors where ever this signal was originating from and I never had the problem again ![]() Hope that bit of info helps, however vague it may be. If you need me to call the dealer to get more info for you, feel free to drop me a line and I will give them a call. Jay I Love my Mini |
