Offline | Roof Sticker/Decal - how long does it last ? We have a silver/grey union jack on the mini's roof fitted from new by the dealer, car is nearly 2 years old and the roof sticker looks terrible on the silver bits - marks all over it. They cannot be polished or rubber off. Wondering how long these tend to last ? Bonnet stripes are fine by the way. Edit : Will get pics during daylight |

Offline | I have a custom made roof with 12 years color guarentee. The guy who made the roof said a few interesting things, he fits (advertising) vinyl on cars for a living. He makes and fits roofs and bonnet stripes for BMW dealers who look like the BMW ones but have a better quality vinyl. The vinyl from the BMW roofs are not very good quality, they just last long enough to get through the guarentee period. The vinyl he uses is only color guarenteed from the manufacturer if it is 'dry fitted', so wet fitting maybe also decrease the lifetime. I believe dealers tend to fit roofs/stripes wet as this is easier. EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified |

![]() MINI2 Regular | As a former sign writer, I know a thing or two about Vinyl. The highest grade of Vinyl you can get is Avery Fascal 900 (Which is what MINI use), guaranteed for about 8 years or thereabouts. Brush Washes may damage it sooner than that though. Owen. |

Offline | Well its never been through a car wash and only ever been washed by myself with a sponge and decent car shampoo. It in today and I have mentioned it to them, I am under the impression as it was fit by them at delivery it should be covered for at least the warranty as with other bits done on delivery (driving lights etc). will see what they say |

Offline | As a follow on to this the car had been in a 3rd time today so the sticker man can confirm the roof will be replaced under warranty (after the dealer told me it would), only for me to get a phone call saying it isnt covered, he doesnt know why its gone like this but its not covered. It has been said something must have been applied to the roof for it to go like this and the bonnet striped have also started to go like this too. The thing is why arnt the bonnet stripes as bad?? they have always been washed/treated the same ... needless to say I am dissapointed. ![]() |
