loud fan like noise from engine after turning ignition off

turned the car off, took the keys out of the ignition and there was a loud fan like noise coming from the engine compartment. Has anyone ever experienced this. the noise went way as soon as i re-started the car and has not re-appeared.

nothing to worry about, it's the cooling fan kicking in to cool the engine coolant down.

Is it a warm day over there today? mine does it more on warm days (as you'd expect).

having said that, it may be a sign of something else being an issue - e.g. low coolant, so check that out.

Please make sure your fan shuts off. Because mine didn't and had to have it replaced.

With the engine off and ignition on, press the button to activate the pollen filter.

Is that the same noise...?

no, its not the same noise. Today the car did it again, and this time i just sat around to see if it would go off on its own .......... AND IT DID! after about 4-5 minutes. At-least im happy about that and dont have to worry about listening for the noise everytime i lock the car etc..
