The only way to unlock or lock my driver door is manually with the key. The toggle switch unlocks and locks only the passenger side door. The remote will not affect the driver side door, either. I really am sick of putting up with my dealer, so any suggestions on what I could myself do would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the lock actuator solenoid has died or the linkage has come unhooked. You could replace it yourself, but you'll likely have to purchase the part (if needed) from the dealer.

First order of business would be to remove the door card (panel) and have a look.
