Offline | Sunroof Switch Panel Backwards from Factory? Hello, Here's a weird one.... I have owned a Dec. 2003 Build MCS for about 1.5 years, and today is the first time that I noticed that the sunroof switch is installed backwards. Does anyone else have this? The 'solid arrow' closed icon is toward the back of the car, and the 'hollow arrow' open icon is toward the front. Also, the button for 'tilt open' is upside down as viewed from the driver's seat. How strange... It should not have been touched since it left Oxford, so I guess it was built this way. Can it be easily corrected by removing and turning the switch 180 degrees? Thanks, Jeffro ![]() |

Offline | I have the exact same thing... I noticed it right after I picked up the car (May 2003) and thought it was weird. About a year later, when my sunroof cassette was being replaced, I pointed that out to the technician while the whole roof was disassembled and the switch was just dangling from the roof. Of course I asked him to just "reverse" it and put it back. He said he could not do anything, since it required chaning something in the circuitry... I was in a hurry and did not want to insist; so, it is still backwards. I guess another "quirk" of MINI ownership ![]() |

Offline | If the worst "stereotypical British electrical fault" we get on our new MINIs is a backwards sunroof switch, I will be happy indeed ![]() Now I'm eager to leave work and see if ours is backward as well... -Eric |

Offline | Backward Sunroof Switch Thanks for the replies folks. The strangest part is that it took so long for me to notice. Another weird British car idiosyncracy to admire, I guess. At least it functions normally. Jeffro |

Offline | I'll check ... but I don't get it. Why, after this monster marketing campaign and the not too shabby cost of purchase does the MINI have these faults. Yes tiny fault quirky fault but why? I think the craftsmanship of the auto production should tighten up. The chip in the computer, the by pass, the this the that. I think they have a product people are buying and BMW is representing so I think the product needs to be quality controlled. |
