Offline | passenger door cannot be opened Hi guys, only had my car for 1.5 days, brand new, found something odd. You know how when you stop the car and turn off the ignition and take the key out, both driver and passenger doors unlock right? Well on the passenger door, it unlocks, but when you try to open the door from inside the car, the door won't open. There's nothing wrong with the driver door however. On both occassions I noticed that my partner had already tried to open the door before the car actually unlocked itself, but the result usually is just that door unlocks and you can open the door. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it normal?!??!? Logically I don't think it is, so I'll probably get the service guys to look at it, and let me know. In the meantime if someone knows what the problem is then would appreciate the knowledge. Thanks. |

Offline | At least on our car, the doors do not unlock when you turn off the car. Getting out requires the "two pulls" on the inside handle. Of course, if we unlock the door with the switch it only requires one. Perhaps on your car the software is set to only unlock the driver's door... I could see that being the case for safety reasons... -Eric |

Offline | Did abit of testing on my car and found this out. Mine is a May 05 build. If u take the keys out of the ignition both doors automatically unlock and the interior light comes on. What happens is if, on the passenger door you already try to open the door before the doors unlock properly, it deadlocks that entire door even if the lock thing on the door pops up, and the only way to open that door is from the outside. You have to press the door handle twice from outside the car to unlock that entire door. Weird. But if you let the car unlock the doors properly first before trying to open the door, then you'll never get this problem. So I guess it makes common sense. I think I'm still use to my old car where if u try to open the doors from the inside when they're locked it'll unlock it first and then on the second pull of the latch it'll open. |
