2005 DSC and wheel clicking ??

At first I thought it might be a web spoke issue, maybe it still is. See this thread for some background http://www.mini2.com/forum/wheels-tyres-brakes/94864-calling-all-web-spoke-owners.html

Essentially, my wheels make a clicking sound at each revolution. You can really hear it when driving along a wall or pulling into a garage, etc.

bjerk went to one of the three Chicago and is having all four of his rims replaced. I stopped by one of the other Chicago dealers today and was told that the noise is the DSC. The tech drove another 2005 with DSC and experienced the same sound. The other MINI supposedly did not have web spokes, but I was unable to have this verified.

So my question is: do other 2005 MINI owners (with rims other than the web spokes) with DSC experience the clicking sound coming from each wheel at every revolution? I'm thinking that since the web spokes are a very open design (compared to the s-lite) we hear more from behind the wheel.

"So," I said after I'd had enough, "you've ruined it".

Hmmm... I don't notice any particular noise coming from the wheels on my '05 w/ DSC running on the 17" S-Lites. Can you clearly here it from the cabin over the sound of the engine?

Yup. With both windows down driving at slow speed. It's easier for me to hear the click at night when it's quiet out.

I have the weird low speed steering noise and the clicking. I have the web spokes, but the clicking is only on the right front wheel.

I wonder???

just had all four wheels replaced on friday and I started to hear the clicking again on saturday night. I'm really starting to think its cause of the humidity I'm going back on wednesday to have them check it out.
what a pain. I wonder what other mini owners do who dont live close to a mini dealer and need service. I'm glad that I live close to one but at the same time concerned that I'm going so often.

I havn't thought about it being the DSC though. I still think it might be the wheels, they have been a good scapegoat thus far, but i would think i would have noticed the clicking when I had the windows down in the cool spring weather.

I have two 05 MCS's. One of them makes the clicking sound (very loud!) and the other does not. They both have DSC, but one of them has Web-Spokes (i.e. the one that clicks) and the other has Bullets on it. The one with the clicking problem also has a factory LSD whereas the other one does not. Hmm...

nope

I have the web-spokes and DSC, after 5000 miles I hear no clicking noise. I just pulled up my narrow alley with the windows down to listen.

Try turning off the DSC

Simple check - try turning off the DSC. See if there is a difference.
