England Reversing Light.

Hello Mini people,
Has anybody had a problem with their reversing light failing to work?
I have changed the bulb and the fuse but still no joy, read in a previous post about a control box which tells the car its in reverse anyone know where that is or is it likely to be a wire come off from the gearbox? Any suggestions?
Regards
Davey

like profpatpending said it is on top of the gear box under the air filter housing, there is two wires goin to it, put the car in reverse and check for battery voltage on both wires, if you have battery voltage on one and not the other you know the switch is bad

Just replace the backup light switch.

I had my MINI in 3 different times because the reverse light stopped working. First time they installed a bulb and it worked for less than one day. Second time they installed a new light assembly - worked until I got home. Third time they finally replaced the switch and it's been working ever since.

The odd thing is that there was enough current to light up a test light and read properly on a volt/ohm meter, but wasn't enough amperage for the actual bulb to light. Once they replaced the switch, it worked.

Bad Reverse light switch

My MCS was built 9/ 2003

Reverse light switch went bad this spring at about 12,000 miles.

Dealer changed it.

On the S, you can get to it through the left wheel well with out jacking up the car.
