United-Kingdom Found Cheap Insurance...

A company called Bell Direct Insurance (part of Admiral).

They have quoted me £1,376.55 (on an MCS) ... for someone who's only 20 and this with 0 no claims bonus (as I have always been insured under my father...)

I think these are the guys I will be going with...

EDIT - oh, and I'm a bloke... so we're the high risk drivers ('cause we have to dodge the women )

Caution!

Treat the Bell/Admiral/Elephant insurance group of companies with care.

MAKE SURE you get, in writing, that they will replace ALL your non-standard parts (such as air-conditioning, alloy wheels, even different trim, EVERYTHING, like for like.

This is not their standard policy: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...elephant.co.uk however as they've had a lot of problems with MINI owners (like me) walking away from them due to very poor cover, they will/can now cover these parts (according to posters on this forum), but you MUST get it in writing as it's still not standard for them to do so.

There's lots of good companies, it really does depend on if you fit a companies "profile" as to whether or not you'll get a good deal. It's worth talking to bell/admiral etc to see if they will put all the details in writing.

Bell/Elephant etc are fairly notorious for giving really cheap insurance quotes. One thing I will say, which completely confused the hell out of me was this...
I phoned Elephant for a quote on a D reg Golf cabriolet because they gave us a really good price for our other car, a Golf V6 (on which I was a second driver). Bearing in mind I was 23 at the time with no 'no claims' bonus, they quoted something like £325 for the year. I was pretty surprised until they told me that because I was already on a policy with them on another car, they'd give me a full no claims bonus as a loyalty bonus.
So even after I stopped using them and started using another insurer, my no claims bonus stayed!
One other thing I'd recommend is to try and put someone of low risk on your insurance as a second driver. Another reason my insurance is so cheap is because my boyfriend is second driver. They told me the premium actually went down because he was on there!!
