Offline | Nightmare predicament Im currently faced with a hellish decision/obsticle. I can get a brand spanking new cooper S checkmate for £45 more per month and £500 cashback from MINI towards anything I want (dont ask me how). I could pick up the car on wednesday coming if I can find an insurer. BUT (big but mind) I cant seem to find any insurer who will insure me. I will have had my licence for two years come febuary, and two years no claims come march. I have pass plus and a clean record. I honestly feel like crying...im in touching distance, but cant quite reach. I have tried Norwich Union, Tesco, Direct Line, Admiral (got a quite for 2.5k ) and a fair few others. No joy im affraid. Surely a few months cant make that much difference?Any of you guys got any ideas? Or anything that may cheer me up for that matter. ![]() Cheers A rather down in the dumps Matty |

Offline | Matty, Take it from this you are a lot younger than I am (36). Only guessing but I didn't get my first "real" car until I was 24. It was a three year old 205 GTI 1.9 - Best car I've owned apart from the S I have now obviously. Before that I built my no claims bonus up with ; Ford Fiesta 1.1 pop plus - had for 2 years - Bought when I was 17 Nova 1.3 SR - had for three years - Bought when I was 19 Ford Fiesta XR2 - had for 4/5 years until I got the Pug See the picture developing. By the time I got the pug I had about 9 years NCB so could afford the insurance. Even if you do get insured what will happen if you have to claim. The 1 or 2 years you will have in March will be wiped out. Just think of the renewal premium then. Dont want to sound like an old, sad git, but I had to wait until I was 36 before I got my S. Mind you If you can afford it then go for it I say, life's to short. |

Offline | Thing that makes it worse is, I paid for a citreon AX insurance for a full year whilst learning to drive, but it was in my mothers name. If only I had that car insured under my name, then I'd have 3 years NCB come March ![]() |

| Premier League | I'm sure there are other people on this site who have been insured at a young age on a Cooper S. Have a look in this forum, you might find some helpful posts: http://www.mini2.com/forum/finance-insurance/ |

Offline | I am sure you will get insured somewhere Matty but of course it will be at a cost! My 22 year old neice has just collected her S and her insurance is £1400 a year. She got it cheaper as she works for the Met and they thought she was a good safe bet as she is insured to drive Met cars! |

| DUNNY | Im only 21 with a speeding fine, 1 claim 3 years NCB, had my licence 3 years come feb and i got insured on my 20k Cooper S (not showing of just stating) and all for only £1074 i was pritty pleased! Norich union wont insure you you have to be 25 and tesco said i had to be 21(which i was, go figure) Insures differ my bank quoted me £4.5K as a quote and tesco quoted £1600 just keep trying matty you'll find one, try budget also if you put a higher volanty excess that brings the premium down, i would like to ad that the cost of my insurence is with £0 volanty excess but £500 composary :S |

Offline | Im 18 with an MCS, I had to swap from my own insurance and go on my mums to get anything near reasonable. Paying 1.7k with Elephant (Admiral), theyre definately your best bet, but if you do manage to find anything better PM me ![]() |

Offline | i do agree with ZafGsi, if you can afford it get it, life is too short. but please honestly believe me when i say if it doesnt work out right now for you with costs etc, then anything worth having is worth waiting for - and it'll be a million times better! having said that, i hope you can manage it, i wish you luck,. try mini's own insurance, thats who i'm with they were cheapest |

| "Buying and selling" | Normally you find the admiral run companies are the cheapest for younger drivers, try bell and elephant, i know its not the best cover but its the cheapest for me by a long way. Also have you added your mum onto the policy as the second driver as this will lower it about 400 notes! 2001 cooper (sold) ![]() 1995 Supra RZ-S TT auto in white. |

| MINI2 Senior | Try 'Bell Direct', think they may be called just 'Bell' now but they are very competative. I'm 27 and been with them since i was 21. I had a Golf GTi and No NCB and i still got a sensible quote from them. Plus their advert isn't too annoying either! Monster Monster |

| "Buying and selling" | In my experience Adrian Flux arent competitive at all, once quoted me 1500 one month and then the next month they quoted me 4000 on an MC . Obviously its probably different for some others but they definately use the random number generator! 2001 cooper (sold) ![]() 1995 Supra RZ-S TT auto in white. |

| IM ALSO A COUNTRY MEMBER | I found them good when I had my cooper- modified classics, most insurers wouldn't even give me a quote. But once I got over 35 and started driving more standard spec mini's they seemed to be particularly cr@p.So might be worth it for a youngster- horses for courses etc etc ![]() Friend of the Mini-less |

Offline | www.greenlightinsurance.com They are ace, and very friendly to deal with. Search on here for Greenlight and you'll see some rave reviews. Liverpool Vic was shocking wen I tried them. I'm 26, modified MCS, 11 points on licence, 2 years NCB and insured for £800 fully comp. It's good cover too ![]() |
