Offline | Warranty   Apologies but just at the end of 2 bootles of wine so the spelling and gran]mmar may be a liitle off  Just had a quote from Warranty Direct for warranty outside of the 3 yeaR WARRaNTY PROVIDED BY bmw LOOKS LIKE THE WINE IS WIINING Any way the quote was £ 206 per year for cover of my WORKS S with Works suspension this represented a 95% cover of all parts etc. Has anybody had any experience of this cpmpany and can they bre recommended. |

Offline | RVW .... "Bootles" of wine!? Does that mean boot fulls? Mind you if you are talking Mini boots, you actually mean just 6 bottles only! And that would be only in they were in a cardboard carrier supplied by the supermarket .... Mini boots, well no comment! |

Offline | I used Warranty Direct several years ago, but never had to make a claim. Recently did a online quote for a previous car, they phoned me to see what I thought of the quote. Maybe worth thinking about for an extended warranty, but look into the small print and what it actually covers though! |

Offline | Thanks for that, I have read the small print ( I think) and asked the questions of them, and the replies appear to be sincere. but then Buyer Beware as to coin a phrase  But compared to what BMW want and possibly for the same cover, it appears to be reasonable. |

Offline | so what do and don't they cover on that yearly charge Ray? I am thinking roof from wear on convertible mainly, but also wondering how it works? Do you get the work done by your dealer and them claim it back, or do they use their own garage network? Oh and hope the head isn't too bad The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?  |

Offline | Heads OK now Below is their Gold cover Limits appear to be £5000 on any single claim. yearly limit of £5000 Repairs can be carried out at Franchise dealer. Other benefits Parts and labour covered 24hr recovery helpline Car Hire included Overnight Hotel acc Emergency travel Failure of timingbelt?? Choice of garage Cover from day one Insurance of any type is mostly a lottery. Until you have to claim you can never be sure if it is or was worth it. The way I am looking at this is A) its cheaper than BMW possibly not as comprehensive but on paper not far of IMO. B) brings a degree of peace of mind in case something untoward was to happen. There is no specific mention of soft tops but I am sure if you spoke to them they would have some sort of cover. The nearest mention is sunroof motors I am basically seeking peeps thoughts and opinions on aftermarket warranty as against BMW warranty. Is the BMW one worth more than twice as much. Even my warranty man at the dealer has his doubts on value for money regarding their warranty The items under the following list are covered. Any item not specifically mentioned is not covered. ENGINE Cylinder head, internal bushings. oil pump, crankshaft and bearings, tappet gear, valves & guides (excluding burnt or pitted valves), pistons & rings, cylinder bores/liners, con rods, distributor drive, starter ring gear, flywheel, autodrive plate, camshaft drive belts, camshaft & cam followers, cylinder head gasket, cylinder block, crankshaft pulley, turbo/intercooler units, rear main seal, rocker assembly, push rods, timing gears, timing belts & chains. CLUTCH The master and slave cylinder, clutch cable and pedal assembly TRANSMISSION (Manual, Automatic and Overdrive) Manual Transmission: gears, synchromesh hubs & rings, selectors, shafts, bearings, drive chains plus gearlever and bushes. Automatic Transmission: torque converters, brake bands, valve block, governor (manual & electric) oil pump and seals, drive chains, gears, input shaft oil seal, clutches, servos and modulator valve, bearings plus gearlever and bushes. Overdrive: Gears, shafts and bearings. FRONT WHEEL DRIVE UNIT Crown wheel and pinion, differential unit, bushes and bearings, plus external drive shafts, couplings, C.V. joints and rubber boots, hubs, drive flange and universal joints. CASINGS casings are covered provided they have been damaged as a result of failure of an insured part or by the consequential damage of an insured part failing. OIL LEAKS This covers seal or gasket replacement that necessitates the removal of the engine, gearbox/drive unit and drive shafts or differential unit to carry out repairs. Only the components originally fitted as standard by the manufacturer are covered unless agreed in writing by us. |

Offline | hmmm, I guess I could get my monies worth from any policy with a Convertible by having a new roof each year, as long as the policy doesn't increase from claiming Thanks for the info Ray, I'll keep an eye on what you findings are and your decision on who to go with The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? |

Offline | @ Ray. Sometimes when you're pished you have an urge to post brilliant ideas on M2. Warranty Direct is one of the better warranty companies. You just need to be aware of any claims restrictions and to read the small print. WD is often recommended by Honest John in the Daily Telegraph Motoring section and they sometimes advertise one of their products in the Telegraph as a Daily Telegraph Warranty. Offline | whats their policy reg after markets parts as when mine warrantys out i intened to put induction, lowering springs and a full milteck exhaust on the car and possibly a superchips re map Thinking MINI's Powered by DDM/M7 |

Offline | From what I have found out up to now. They will cover mods as long as they are informed about them prior to taking out the warranty. I as yet have not finalised anything but at this piont in time they are prepared to cover my car for £206.00/year BMW will not cover your car on extra warranty. Will keep you you informed |

Offline | Well for better or worse richer or poorer gone and done it Finally got it down to £200 Hope I asked all the right questions Covers everything except consumables i.e exhaust,clutch,brake pads etc. Also they include fair wear and tear, so if a part is worn you dont pay anything towards it upto 60,000 miles after that there is a sliding scale. So I feel comfortable that in the event of a major catastrophe it is not going to cost me a fortune  I suppose the cover is not as good as BMW but they have just increased the price to something like £560 and added more restrictions. So I think I have a reasonable degree of peace of mind. BUT like all insurance the crunch comes when you have to claim , hope I never will |
