Question Insurance Settlement Timescale

my insurance company has just eventually paid out after much chasing around, which leaves me to my question of the day to other unfortunate people who had claim before:

how long before your insurance company paid out from the date of your claim??

i know that there are variants but i found 14 weeks rather strung out and ridiculous long.....

My mate had his Merc written off on a Saturday by a driver who had just driven back from holiday in France and inexplicably jumped a red light close to home.

The third party was insured through Direct Line and they sent a claims assessor to view his car on the Monday. They admitted liability on Tuesday and sent a cheque which he had agreed/haggled with the assessor. He was told that he could keep the hire car they supplied to him for a further week after the cheque was cashed.

Pretty good going for a total loss, but when it's stolen they like to hang around in case the car is found and can be returned to you.

There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all.

wow that is super rapid - my brother unfortunately crashed into a tree and his insurance âid out the total loss within a fortnight and now has a new vehicle, within this period i've been on the dog and bone almost everyday

i understand that the companies wait at least 4 weeks before confirming a stolen car a total loss, but i found that i had to do all the chasing and faffing around, and 14 weeks really took the biscuit
