Question Cooper Insurance

I have just got a qoute from MINIs online insurance. It was mega cheap!

One thing that I'm not sure on is wheather the insurance quote will cover me with the Sound kit, Aero kit and Viper Stripes. When getting my quote there where no questions about modifications; mini approved or not.

Does anyone have an idea?

I have my Sound kit insured with MINIs own insurance. I did have to phone up though.

I think I will give them a call tomorrow. I f the quote is still low I will go with them. Don't know about you, but I am sick and tired of online quotes. I have had problems with nearly every site; either not recognising my address properly, listing every variation of MINIs but Cooper with chilli pack, not insuring cars that are modified, or the web site is so awkard or problematic I have just given up!

So online insurance companies, please sort yourselves out for your sake (more money for you) and mine (less hassle for me).

The problem with elephant and all the admiral run company's is that they dont cover like for like. Basically they charge you extra for your options like chilli pack etc, but in the event of a total right off they will only pay out on a standard mini ie 16" wheel no chilli pack etc.
Thats why nobody likes them for mini's, you get what you pay for really, im insured with bell, still admiral run but the cover is that cheap i cant resist it and am not too bothered about the like for like stuff.
Try mini Insurance!

do a google for elephant and u find out they are complete rubbish when it comes to moments that u need them. read reviews such as elephant refusing to cover u after a crash over minor things leaving drivers to stand up in court themselves.

i know its cheap and i know its the easiest way to get a cooper s insured. my quote was 600 which was great, seeing as the next best was double the price!

seriously if u do go with elephant (which i was considering until i somehow managed to get some more money together), resign urself to the fact that its a piece of paper u r paying for just so u can get insured. i wouldnt rely on them for decent service.

so dont crash!

ps. this is not my personal experience of elephant but the result of hours of googling when i was looking for insurance 2 months ago.

hope that helps

Search this very forum and you'll find a lot of bad things said about Admiral, Bell and Elephant, which I believe are all the same group.

I have been with adrian flux for the past year. Their quote was the cheapest last year. I have had no problems with them at all. The only minor gripe is that they charge a lot for changes to the policy; I got charged £90 (If I remember correctly) for adding the Sound Kit to my policy - but that did include the admin charge plus a small rise in my premium.

I may go with them again this year, but will still look around for a better deal. I don't like elephant and co. because I have to declare my chilli pack as an extra - I think they are after as much dosh as they can get from you by making you declare allsorts of things - even if they are optional extras. Declaring after market mods is fine in my book, as they're not standard to the car, but having to declare optional extras is just rediculous.

I had to declare my climate control with elephant for my golf when I used them for the first and only time.

Got my mini now and forever.
