Insurance for 17 year old cooper or one? Hi, This is my first post so if i post it in the wrong thread please let me know. Just a quick questions, i was wondering if anyone(preferably aged 17) had recently had a quote on a MINI cooper. I can't seem to find anywhere that will even give me a quote. I have read up on the previous threads for young drivers but there doesn't seem to be an outcome on the other posts. I was also considering a MINI one and i have had a couple of good quotes from MINI cover and Tesco, but i would really prefer the MINI cooper. Thanks in advance, Amy

Try co-operative insurance services: www.cis.co.uk - being a guy, and just turned 18, they quoted £3990 on a cooper and £3234 on a one. i am a guy though and have been driving for less than one year but that includes a pass plus discount. elephant quoted me £6.5k on a one! Try easy money insurance: http://www.easymoneyinsurance.com - they're adminstered and underwritten by zurich. I was quoted £2816.56 on a Mini One, they wouldn't insure me on a cooper. as for the whole one/cooper debate, just get a one. pretty much everything you can do to a cooper you can to a one and it's cheaper to insure...just makes more sense. hope this helps! regards --marty

Yeah, i got a quote of 1388 on MINI insurance just for the basic one no extras at all, i thought it was ok considering my sister has a Yaris and her first year cost 1700. The quote i got was using my sisters information because I'm not 17 til December, but everything is the same apart from the name and the date of birth, but i expect it will change alot by the time i am ready to purchase the insurance. I think i will just go for the one, it was a choice between a new one or a used cooper. Thanks for the replies Last edited by amyb896; Jun 4th, 2006 at 10:20 PM.

The insurance premium seems to go down alot with 1 year NCB, my sister just got her quote in for her 2nd year and it was 900 odd, so its gone down by about 800, so i think anywhere i try and get a quote will be over 1000 at least. Thanks anyway.

i insured my ONE to start on my 17th birthday with provisional obviously and it was £1660 for me as only driver. Now with 1 year NCB bonus and almost 18 my newest quote is £920 to start on my 18th birthday. I have the Salt pack which puts it up a bit as it has alloys etc. Its with www.directline.co.uk but woulnt insure me on the phone so i did it online :S I couldnt get any quotes for a cooper, if its the performance your after then get a ONE and get it remapped. Good luck, Kris GREY COOPER S

Blimey, I feel really sorry for you guys, most of those quotes are hideous! I know I'm 22 but give mini cover a try, and ramp up the excess, they seem to drop the premium heavily if you do. However, agreed with the Norwich Union cries, my other car is with them and it costs peanuts. (again, the excess trick works well with them, reduced premium from £580 to £310) Paul Still online, but not here... Find MINI2 on facebook for details!
