UK S Insurance: Can anyone beat this?

I've just got to that exciting time of life when I'm making REAL preparations for delivery of my MCS...like INSURANCE .

I'm pleasantly suprised how inexpensive most quotes are, I've tried MINI/BMW (who seem to really be EGG), EGG themselves, Tesco, Direct Line...all about £430 to £490 pa. But my current company ~ Norwich Union Direct ~ have left me "gob-smacked"

£315.83 pa (I have it in writing in front of me) for full comprehensive, two named drivers, and includes legal services, a hire care in event of an accident, protected no claims bonus, and only £120 excess. I made them check they were quoting for a Cooper S not a Cooper - they are quoting for an S.

Wow...that feels good to me....Anyone know of a cheaper deal before I take this one?

(by the way both drivers are over 50, clean licences, car is garaged...perhaps been older has its advantages!)

That is a good quote.

Do you know if they'll let you have the car fixed in an approved MINI bodyshop in the event of an accident or do they tell you where to take it?

I just tried to get a quote on line but the system fell over because they have no MINI option on the vehicle selection box !

This got me thinking about getting the MINI fixed if it ever (fingers crossed) was involved in an accident.

I'm with Direct Line and once had to get a car fixed. I took it to their approved garage and wasn't particularly happy with the quality of the repair.

Given that the car has a bodywork warranty and in order to ensure this is maintained it must be fixed in an approved workshop I called Directline. They said you can take your car anywhere you choose to be fixed which is great. I thought you HAD to use their approved repairers.

I'll be sticking with Directline as they have for years been the cheapest for me.

Ken.

Norwich Union Direct offered you 316 notes
When I wanted to renew my Cooper policy with them they wanted £580, I went with MINI/BMW for £450 instead.
Different circumstances give different quotes I guess.
Anyhoot it's someting to look forwad to when I reach 50

You can try beating £2500 for a 19 year old for me if you like. The insurance will literally kill me

I ususally use Elephant.co.uk for fast, realistic quotes.

Haven't bothered getting a quote for a CTR, as they don't really appeal to me. Having said that, they are starting to grow on me - I used to hate them a lot more than I do now!!

I think I'm going to insure it under my Dad's name actually... It goes down to £500 for him with me as a named driver. Crazy!

Then again, I guess my three points for speeding don't elp me

I'm 23 as is my missus. I got quoted £740 for the pair of us with teh car in her name and me as a named driver. Because i've got a company car, she uses it during the day. It is never garaged cos we ain't got one and live in the CB1 postcode area.

We both have five years no claims but I've got a couple of SP50's and a TT99(not good) to my name so I was quite impressed with that. It was thru the AA on line. I have been told that they don't like anyone without any NCD though.

try them: www.theaa.com

yea jon did u ever test drive the civic type r? i wonder wot its like

though saying that i had a go in a family members civic vti, they said that on the road theres not THAT much difference from their car to the type r... i was quite disappointed with the vti actually, the steering was too light (compared to the mini) and there wasn't THAT much poke , vtec sounded cool though...

cheers

Is that third party fire and theft or fully comp?

Do you get a courtesy horse when it's at the vets?

Do you build up nay claims bonus?

Do they charge you more if you fit bigger shoes?

Just phoned the insurance company that we had our cooper insured with for a quote for the cooper S and I was "GOBSMACKED" as I cannot believe the premium they want.
