England MCS Insurance Renewal time. Shop around.

I thought I would just share my find a cheaper quote experience.

My renewal arrived in the post yesterday, which came in at £551.21 but my broker (A-Plan) had already done some research and come up with a cheaper quote at £499.95
Being a friday and only got a couple of days before I change jobs I thought I would try and get a better quote.

What I wanted was reasonable Excess, Protected No Claims, and Legal Cover, anything else would be gravy.

1st I thought lets try some online quotes:
Directline: £422.10
AA: £494.01
RAC: £438.99
Admiral: £540.75
Liverpool Victoria: £559.42
Churchill: £510
Lloyds Insurance £502.92
Barclays: £512.19
Kwik Fit: £424.23

So went back to broker to see it they could do any better, they came back with £414.70 and it was a much package than the original quote.

Well I thought I would try out a few more, from what people have mentioned here in the forums.
Adrian Flux: £444.83
Premiun Search: £410
Greenlight: couldnt get close
A-Quote: £447.21
Swinton: £530
Norwich Union (Quote me Happy): £584
Policy Shop: £422

So for the time and effort of doing some shopping around I have managed to save £140 on my original policy, which I am well pleased about considering I have had to make 2 claims on my insurance in the last 2 years.

Insurance heartache

I am 31 but have only been driving just over a year. Of course my first proper car was gonna have to be a mini. So I got myself a ONE.

The cheapest by far for me was Tesco at £760. After a year it jumped down to £543, which was nice.

Within a couple of months I moved 40 houses down on the same side of the road and when I let Tesco know this they told my premium had to rise another £130 back up to £670!
What a blow.

I feel as if they can make up whatever they like, and I did check with the underwriters themselves.
The parking is even more secure but did it make a difference?

If you havnt got your licence and a car already, GET IT SORTED!
Dont bum about like me hanging round on street corners, get those no claims in
