Offline | MCS Insurance At present I have a MINI one however I yearn for a MCS, however as I am twenty Insurance is a problem. When I graduate from University next year and get a full time job I will be given a company car or allowance, which ever is the best deal for me. What I really want to know is are there any MCS owners who are in their early twentys and what kind of premium are you paying for insurance? All replys are welcomed. |

Offline | I am 21. I have 4 years No Claims, the car is garaged overnight and I live in quite a low risk area. Don't know what my policy is because I just changed the car 1/2-way through a year. My payments have gone up to £150 per month, which I reckon makes it around £1500-£1800 per year. That is with Tesco insurance. Other quotes I got were around the same (Direct Line, Elephant). The other problem is the excess is £800! Lowest I could get that down to was £600. A lot of the problem is some insurers (mine) count the 17 inch wheels and leather interior as modifications. |

Offline | Re: MCS Insurance That will be some employer...I've been in the surveying profession for 10 years now and 7 of those as an employer and its a long long time before a graduate gets a company car or an allowance...unless of course you've already secured the job don't build your hopes up too much. Good luck ![]() |

Offline | Modifications - thanks! I was just about to post my acceptance of BMW Insurance's quote for my Cooper S (due 20 Aug) and felt the horror at the idea that the Chili pack would be a "modification" and bump up the premiums... Would you believe it, having the Chili pack has REDUCED my premiums by £270 [with just one easy call..] Thanks folks. That puts me at £501 comprehensive Just wish my motorbike insurance was so easy... Tim OB |

Offline | Santacruz I am currently working for a main contractor that seems to give graduate surveyors a company car. However I wasn't so much relying on that fact but more that I am prepared to trade in my ONE and pay the difference with the money I have made working over our long university summers. So really its just a case of insurance, and I know it is going to be alot but at this time I'm just conducting some research into rough numbers. |

Offline | Ours was £650ish with direct line, although we haven't told them about window tints yet ! Someone told us that they (Direct Line) would not touch cars with tinted windows is this an urban myth or does anyone out there know the truth ? Offline | Has anyone actually had their premiums increased due to a particular option (i.e. Chilli pack)? Admiral seemed very concerned when I said that I was having a Chilli pack and were going to refer me to the underwriter - but they were too expensive anyway and I didn't hang on. ![]() S collected...as promised at 12:00 on 29 Oct - really getting to know it now - great car - DS (black roof), full leather, sunroof, full Chilli and most of the other bits...got a bit carried away at the dealership!!! |
