What is the insurance on a MCS like?

Hi,

This is my first post!

But I've been looking round the net for insurance quotes on a MCS, but can't really get any.

I'm 17, male and have basically just passed, 00 no claims bonus and no past motoring convicitions. I'm looking to buy a MCS second hand 10k miles for about £14k. Im also looking to take the pass plus scheme, but not until I'm actually driving.

How much is my insurance going to be on this?

Thanks

My experience (in Nevada) is the insurance rate is very good -- the Mini has a very good safety rating -- but I am a few years older than you :-)

I think you will have quite a bit of trouble getting anything under £1500 for a MCS. Most of the cheaper insurance companies for younger drivers won't insure anyone on an S if they are under 21, eg. Direct Line, Tesco etc.
I am 22 with 2 years NCB and no points or convictions and paying £666 with Direct Line on a MCS. Last year on my MCS Convertible with Elephant I was paying around £1300 with obviously 1 years NCB.
If anyone knows any cheap insruance companies for drivers under 21I'd love to know as I'm sure my younger brother (who is 19) would love to be a named driver

Considering your age, complete lack of driving experience and zero no claims, you'll be lucky if anyone will insure you on a Cooper S at all. Even if you do find an insurer who'll cover you, I'd expect to pay £3000+ for fully comp.

I struggled to get Insurance on a cooper when i was 18 with 1 yr's no claims.

all i can suggest is shop around or maybe go for a cooper cause they're just as much fun and allot easier to insurance and build up experience on. If you heart is set on a MCS all i can suggest is shop arround though.

I would suggest to any new driver to do pass plus, i did and it certainly helped my driving and reduced my premium lots.

Good luck

Chris

I'm with Elephant, I searched around the internet and phoned loads of insurance company's and Elephant, Admiral, Bell, that group were by far the cheapest, by about £1,000!! Elephant was slightly cheaper than Admiral and Bell but there was not a lot in it. I'd defo reccommend going with Elephant as they have been spot on with my renewal policy!
