This is the reason I never considered a Cooper S until now! I'm 24 almost 25 and its only coming down to approx £850 now.

Good luck. Just want to mention don't go with elephant or admiral as your car is very specced up! These cheap insurance companies are known to be very dodgy when your car has lots of options.

Thanks for the advice.

It was only £760 with Direct Line without the kit, might me worth you giving them a try, but it does seem they make up the prices as they go along.

Direct line is a very good insurance company but going from £760 to £1500 just for the aero kit is a bit exuberant! We are with them on our current car and home insurance and they sorted out my partners accident (run in with an articulated lorry when parked, caught on CCTV) perfectly and with no stress. I was with Tescos with my last MINI One and they charged me to cancel my policy!! But were completely accepting of my constant mods.

Have you tried MINI Insurance? I've heard they are good.

Direct Line wont insure a driver under 25 to drive a modified car, not even a named driver!!!

So had to switch to tesco as my girlfriend is only 23. She's also only 6 months away from 4 years NCD, but that will have to drop back to 3 now

Mini Insurance also wouldnt quote, they even asked questions like how many seats does the car have, what size engine is it. And we dont have the new model on our screens but it should be the same!!!

Direct Line

Iv got a quote on a cooper with direct line for £700 this is on my mums policy and me (19) as a named driver, i told them about the Aero Kit and Sound Kit, due to no performance change the price didnt change. (also fit when i pick up from deal brand new) They wont insure a car that is modified when the policy holder is under 25, im guessing that since my mum is over 25 and shes the owner and policy holder then no probs even when im named......

The car you have described is not modified...so where is the problem. The aero bodykit is a factory/dealer fitted option, not a modification. In insurance terms there is a difference, so ensure they are aware its an optional extra and not a personal modification. On the S the insurance will be high for anyone under 25. Admiral or Bell might do it cheap but they are known for not paying up on options and mods even if they are declared (If you write the car off its a basic car they fork out for, they don't seem to pay out for the value of options, even though they charge you extra for them on your premium)
