Car Tax Query!!

Quick question regarding taxing my car - i have a car i need to sell and it currently isnt insured and the tax has run out (and obviously the car needs to be insured in order to get a tax disc) What duration of insurance do i need on a valid certificate in order to tax my car?? ideally i only want to take out 1 months insurance as all i want to do is get my tax disc and then sell the car so obviously i dont want to take out a full 12 month insurance policy as that would be pointless as i am selling the car.
If anyone could shed any light it would be much appreciated!
Cheers
Rob

There's a company that does single day insurance for a tenner - not sure if that would be good enough?

Short Term Car and Van Insurance from dayinsure.com

Loads of companies do day cover now. Do a search on Google for day insurance, temporary insurance etc. All the big names seem to offer it now.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Sell it without the tax, make sure you SORN the car while you are selling it though, otherwise you will get a fine through the post.

Its all electronic now, If you haven't got Vehicle License Duty they already know and as Inceptor said if you haven't filled in the SORN (Statury Off Road notication) you'll be fined.

So they say but I know two people who have an untaxed vehicle, it's not SORN'd, the DVLA have all their details but have never received anything through the post.

It's called scare tactics.
