Question MINI Finance Payments

Hi all,

Ive just got a Laser Blue R56 MCS, I picked it up on the 29th Dec 06 (this is also when I traded my HB/W Cooper), when picking the car up i payed a sum of money to the dealers for the shortfall on the px.
On the 5th Jan 07 MINI finance took out a full months payment on my old car (which i thought id sold back to the dealer, so no longer owned?!!)
Im just wanting to know a couple of things...
a) should this payment have been take out
b) is the dealer takeing me for a ride!!

Ive spoken to the stealer and he said that MINI finance were going to give me a call.... a week on and still no call! the dealer hasnt also fulfilled other promises!! reg transfer and shortfall!! but hes sold me the car now, so there is no need for after sales!!!

would be grateful on you opinions / knowledge!

Thanks

- Muel

Whether the payment on 5 January was due depends on whether Mini Finance took it into account when they calculated their settlement figure. You need to ask them that. They can confirm the calculation of the settlement figure and you can then deduct your agreed PX figure to confirm that the amount you paid for the shortfall is correct.

I doubt the dealer is taking you for a ride, but he could have made a mistake so its worth checking the figures. I would be inclined to write to Mini Finance rather than phoning to make sure you get a clear response. Doing sums over the phone can lead to mistakes or misunderstandings.

I would of got a settlement from MINI finance and settled directly with them, may be an oversight of the dealer, and possibly the instruction to stop the monthly payment wasn't recieved in time for the 5th January,?

I should call them - they may have taken the money because the settlement was paid too late to them - and the process of the direct debit had started. If this was the case they should credit the amount back into your account.
