| DU07 OHO | Online Insurance - How Fast? Hi All, Need a spot of help... I need my insurance documentation for when I pick my new S up on Friday - I'm going to buy my insurance online tonight (after finding out how much the 2 claims I made whilst having my ONE cost)... how long do you think it will take for the documentation to come through my door? Thanks... PS. I take it I do need to inform the insurance company of the amount to the £ of my 2 claims? |

Offline | Usually documents are released the day after its taken up. Its 99% 1st Class - Royal Mail states 2 working days for 1st class. However some can be delayed due to Admin processing e.t.c, so its always best to allow a week. However i would check with the insurer before purchasing any insurance. Assuming its for taxation purposes - as post office do not allow Fax Copies, Photo Copies e.t.c. but some do if they know the dealer well enough. And yes you need to make them aware of claims if in the time specified e.g. Last 3 Years. Non disclosure could lead to non payment ![]() If you are struggling im sure the dealer can provide the free 7 day insurance for tax and then you can drive away. Have fun ![]() Sig Coming Soon.. |

Offline | Nope i wouldnt guess. Generally costs of claims differ from your idea as Third Party Costs and having a Loss Adjuster also pushes up the cost. Call your insurers (who you claimed with) and ask for details of the claim. They can provide things like Dates and Total Paid, Costs and whether at fault or non fault. This is all recorded on a central database so its best to declare it to them ![]() Sig Coming Soon.. |

| DU07 OHO | OK guys need more assistance now... sorry... So I look on my policy document and it has added the 2 claims I've made in the last 3 years (one 'historical' and the other 'part-blame') to the main driver on the policy despite me having the accidents as a named drive. I did explain this at the time of making both claims - is this the norm? The main driver is sticking with this insurance company for her car but because I'm getting my S I'm starting 'afresh' as it were with a different insurance company but adding her on as she may need to borrow my car occasionally. I'm now unclear if I need to declare these on my new policy as my accidents as the main driver or hers as the named driver... and its a pain when you're trying to fill it out online as theres no one (except you lovely people to ask)... HELP! PS. Are there certain criteria you need to meet to get the 7day free insurance |

Offline | Be careful about relying on the 7 day cover note. I phoned up to request it on the day that i was picking my mini up and was told by the dealer that there would be no problem. When i phoned them up they told me that they wouldnt cover a 19 year old in a cooper s. I then had to delay picking up my car for a couple of days until my insurance documents were sent through. Its worth phoning up before to confirm that they will cover you. |

Offline | Its difficult to provide assistance on this one! Expect I would recommend you call the insurer to make sure the following is correct. If you were not the policyholder and you were not the driver involved in the accidents, then you wont need to declare them. However if you are the driver involved in the accident, yes you will need to declare them. Part-Blame claims are considered an at fault claim too. Remember specifying the claims experience, helps insurers get an idea of YOUR driving, not your partners as she will not be insured on the policy. Sig Coming Soon.. |
