HELP jcw sound kit insureance nightmare

hey guys! i know there are already loads of threads on the sound kit and the insurance problems it comes with but can anyone PLEASE!! give me any advise? my insurance company wont insure this "modification" even though i have already explained this is just a sound kit.

can anyone please tell me:
  1. how you explained to to your insurance company??
  2. what insurance company your with?
  3. and how much they increased your premium by?
also i am a young driver so if there are any other young drives with the sound kit if you could give us any info that would be usefull.

thanks guys, i really really want this sound kit as its mint!! n would be gutted if my damn insurance stops me! lol

cheers

Insurance companies dont like young people and mods. End of.

Try a specialist Mini insurer like Adrian Flux. Im with Zurich now (no performance mods on mine though)

And when something happens and they wont pay out........

Its not worth the risk in my eyes, i'd much rather everything was covered properly!

A Cooper S at the age of 17? I'm no insurance broker but I wouldn't be comfortable covering a 17 year old on a car of that type either.

A similar system to motorbikes age/power should be applied to cars aswell IMO

Don't judge - just because the guy's 17 doesn't automatically make him a bad driver and unable to drive a Cooper S.

Not at all, but it does make him an inexperienced driver and I bet he didn't buy the S just cos the bonnet vent looked nice......

Just go to Cheap UK Car insurance and home insurance quotes comparison from Confused.com. and tick the 'air filter' box in the moditications section and see if anyone comes up with a good quote Cam! Must be really frustrating.

wts wrong with 17 year old drivers?? they are not on pills, they can hear, they can see, and they care enough to make sure the car is top notch. on the other hand, lets talk about a 65 year old woman for example...

nothing wrong with 17 year old drivers. a lot wrong with 17 year old kids with guns though.

I never said he was a bad driver. However, at the age of 17 he is still an inexperienced driver. The Cooper S is a powerful car, especially for an inexperienced driver. Therefore, he is at a higher risk than if he was to drive a One or a Cooper.
