MINI Cover/MINI shortfall - claims

After the events of yesterday,

********!

Thick fog + greasy road + tight bend + barbed wire fence + field + MINI = ****** car Scratches to bonnet, roof, whole offside, ****** alloy, ****** suspension/steering, ****ed off, buy in one piece me

*cries*

I am sure that I am going to be in regular contact over the next couple of weeks with the peeps at MINI Cover. Joy!

Yesterday everything was top notch, apart from the recover truck getting totally lost on the way to find me out in the wilds of West Lancashire - the MINI Emergency woman said the recovery truck would be with me in 45 mins, it was more like an hour and 45, but no matter! They were efficient when they arrived!

One thing....the car was recovered to Bowker BMW, and they have said, along with the insurance that a courtesy car will only be available, subject to availability, and not until Tues when the damage has been assessed...luckily, I am managing to scab use of my Mum and Dad's cars over the weekend cos they are both off work this coming week

Anyone got experience, good or bad of dealing with MINI Cover - are they ok? Will they deal with it quickly? And what is the likelihood of a write-off? (Have got the MINI shortfall insurance so it may come in handy - tho am not getting my hopes up too much!)

Such a shame You must be gutted.

Initially it doesn't look too bad, but the position of that driver's side front wheel looks very sick. It would be nice if they were to write it off, but it's probably very unlikely Good luck all the same.

Tigger.

I've seen cars in a much worse state than yours repaired and returned to the road, so considering your's is less than 3 years old and still worth a fair bit it is highly unlikely it will be written-off.

As cco7ers has already said, it will be like new when you get it back, as it will have a virtual full respray.

As for MINI Insurance, they are actually just a trading name of UK Insurance, one of the biggest insurers in the UK, so you've nothing to worry about in terms of them doing a good job (they will only use a BMW Approved Bodyshop) and honouring their side of the agreement in providing you with a replacement car. Just don't expect it to be a MINI, as they source the cars through Enterprise.

It's horrible when stuff like this happens, but put it behind you now and don't let it bother you.

High mileage kills the value of the car tho - had it valued about 6 weeks ago, and they offered me £9000....

Didn't think about the mileage. Could be 50/50 then.

Estimate for repairs comes in at £6k - new front wheels n tyres, windscreen, front suspension, rear trailing arm, etc, etc.... Quote gone to insurance for them to decide....

£6k damage on a circa £9k car? I'd be surprised if you see that one again Ben!
