No Claims - Protected or Not?

In the process of renewing my insurance on my MCS. I've got loads of quotes in but noticed I can save over £100 by not protecting my no claims. Just wondering how many of you protect them or not? The two guys I work with both don't although they don't have a newish driver on their policy (Girlfriend only has 1 years driving experience), as in my case. I have always protected in the past, but £100 saving seems a lot. I have 7 years no claims and have been getting quotes of around £650/700.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Its a risk decision , if you never have an accident then its wasted money, as soon as you have a bump and lose No claims you wish you had done it. Down to personal choice and then hope you do not have a claim if you do not take it.

Saving £100 seems a lot.

But then how much would losing a few years no claims cost you?

I guess that's why it's called insurance, you hope you'll never need it, but if you do.......

I protect (guarantee) mine.

protect it, i never bothered and had a 11 year no claims record wrecked by a minor bump.

Yeah I protect mine as well. Simply means your renewal shouldn't go up if you have a scrape.

Mine is also nowhere near £100.00.

£100.00 seems a lot but when you break it down it's less than 30p a day to protect 7 years no claims.

Thanks for the comments. After taking your advice and readind around the forum I have gone with Mini Insure. Could of got it slightly cheaper else where but thought the policy sounded much better. I checked though and i could of had a saving of exactly £100 for not protecting. Went for it in the end, just in case!!!

I would protect it, as per all other comments, but, I would get a quote from elsewhere as well as from Mini.

My insurance quote from Mini was £1000+ and my local broker was £600 and online from money super market £400!

So it pays to shop around, I negotiated with my broker, given my on line quote to get their price down on my Cooper S.

So I would definately shop around, alot...

Good move going with Mini Insure. As I have discovered, if you are unfortunate enough to have an accident, at least you know that you will get it repaired at a BMW dealership and not an approved repairer. From what I have found out recently very few insurance companies allow you to take it to the repairer of choice.

Having said that Tesco insurance and Mini Insurance are both underwritten by UK insurance and the policies look identical, Tesco also confirmed they allow you to take your car to a BMW dealership for repair as well. When I got a quote from both Tesco and Mini, Tesco came in £70.00 cheaper, even the person at Mini insurance admitted they probably bump up the premium because it's Mini.
