Offline | Swift Cover Swift Cover are coming up as the cheapest insurance company for me at the mo... Their website also states that any factory or dealer fit option need not be declared. Their policy document http://www.swiftcover.com/EN/Home/ca...icyWording.pdf also states that in the event of an accident they "will not pay for the additional cost of modifications other than those supplied and fitted by the manufacturer or their approved garage at the time of original registration" Does this not solve the declaring factory / dealer fit "mods" for those of us that specced highly (aero kit, wheels etc) in the showroom, only to regret listing the lot on insurance quotes? Seems to me that they insure everything if purchased when the car was manufactured and will pay to replace it if it all goes pear shaped! Anyone know any different / have any experience of Swift Cover?? Am I reading the policy correctly? I hope I am... Thanks, James |

| MINI2 Senior | So I sent an email to them asking that question as I'm looking into insuring my MCS with the aero body kit from next month.... response was... "We will cover the extras fitted to your vehicle as long as they were fitted to the car at the point of manufacture by BMW." So that would suggest that any JCW aero kits, different alloys, spot lights etc done by dealer would not be covered....and might cause issues if you had a claim? But wording quoted previously suggests otherwise ?? I might get round it as the Aero Body Kit will be fitted to my car at first registration... but suggests anything else later fitted would not be covered ? I'm asking for further clarification...and will post what I get back.. |

| MINI2 Senior | So I got a reply "After referring your query to our underwriting department, I can confirm that this modification is acceptable as long as it has been fitted by BMW as standard from new and that your vehicle value has been correctly adjusted on your quote to show this extra." So sounds like I can cover my Aero Kit without calling it modified ![]() |

Offline | Amazing! Now all I have to do is wait until renewal and then change to swift cover. At last, a sensible insurer with sensible rules. How on earth can anything on an options list be classed as a modification?? Well done swift cover! I hope that the other insurers will follow... Thanks for digging into that Fergus, really has helped! James |
