Offline | Youngest 'S' Driver - insurance? Hi there guys. Would love to know roughly what kinda ages drive MCS's and how much they pay for insurance!? I'm a Mini One driver and have been since end of December, passed in Feb and I'm loving every second of it!! However I am (and always have been!!) a MINI enthusiast and can't wait to upgrade, but obviously must wait till I can afford it. So how much do you pay and at what age? ![]() |

Offline | Still 5 and a half years for me then Have you been driving since you were 20 or did you have a claim? Does that kinda thing still go against you even if it's cleared?i.e. You apply for insurance, 5 years no claims then they realise you had a whack 6 years ago? ![]() |

| MINI2 on order! | I've been driving since the day i was 17. I had a crash 4 years ago hence why i only have 3 years no claims. When i was looking at insurance some companies asked if you'd made a claim or had a crash within the last 5 years so i would have had to tell them about it. Directline only asked me within the last 3 years. So i didn't have to mention it. Also have 3 points for speeding which they know about. I would have thought insurance for a 17/18 year old on a cooper s would be pillage to say the least. Insurance on my 1.4 ibiza when i was your ages was about £1400a year fully comp. Just have a look around on the various websites and see what comes back for you |

Offline | Does having a slightly older car help get it cheaper? For instance if I got a 02/52 plate MCS that's worth probably a good 3 or 4k less than say an 06/56 Or would it not be much different? ![]() |

![]() Obsessive Car Cleaner OCC | Well ive been driving just over 2 years so i have 2 yrs no clams! my first car was a 1.6 clio si, i paid £1800 which was an absolute rip off! i then had a Cooper and paid £1500 which is still bad, with 1 yrs no claims i now have an MCS with 2 yrs no claims and paying £1000 from Adrian flux, i applied for a quote of them via email and the reply via email was taking ages so i rang them and got the quote off £1000 (which i took) if i waited 2 more days for the reply via email from the same company it would have been £770. That really annoyed me that over the phone it was £1000 and then 2 days later via email it was £230 cheaper! Next year im going to be looking for insurance under £800 with 3 years no claims! |

Offline | I'm 27, 53 plate Cooper S and paying £500 through MNI Insurance and i have been driving for 10 years! I will be honest Sam i don't think you will get reasonable insurance for a Cooper S for at least 2 or 3 years! The cooper S is group 15 and the ONE is group 5 which is quite a large jump! regardless of vehicle price the insurance group will always be the one of the determining factors! the cars will always have similar performance regardless of age and price ! other things that will affect the price are location where the vehicle is kept, where you live and most important your age and driving experience, i.e your 17 and currently you only have less then 3 months since you passed your test! If you want to bring your insurance down do something like the pass plus course as completing it some insurance companies will give you a discount! How much is the insurance on your Mini ONE? ![]() 2002 COOPER / 2003 ONE D / 2003 COOPER S |
