Youngest 'S' Driver - insurance?

Hi there guys. Would love to know roughly what kinda ages drive MCS's and how much they pay for insurance!? I'm a Mini One driver and have been since end of December, passed in Feb and I'm loving every second of it!! However I am (and always have been!!) a MINI enthusiast and can't wait to upgrade, but obviously must wait till I can afford it. So how much do you pay and at what age?

Still 5 and a half years for me then Have you been driving since you were 20 or did you have a claim? Does that kinda thing still go against you even if it's cleared?

i.e. You apply for insurance, 5 years no claims then they realise you had a whack 6 years ago?

I think there is a few people on hear insured on an MCS under 21 but almost all companies wont touch you until your 21!

but there is a few people on hear with them under 21!

I've been driving since the day i was 17. I had a crash 4 years ago hence why i only have 3 years no claims.
When i was looking at insurance some companies asked if you'd made a claim or had a crash within the last 5 years so i would have had to tell them about it. Directline only asked me within the last 3 years. So i didn't have to mention it.

Also have 3 points for speeding which they know about.

I would have thought insurance for a 17/18 year old on a cooper s would be pillage to say the least. Insurance on my 1.4 ibiza when i was your ages was about £1400a year fully comp.
Just have a look around on the various websites and see what comes back for you

Does having a slightly older car help get it cheaper? For instance if I got a 02/52 plate MCS that's worth probably a good 3 or 4k less than say an 06/56

Or would it not be much different?

Not really! it will make some difference in the price as it should with the car being 4k cheaper! but as its the power of the car that puts it in that bracket of over "21" not the price!

If say you got NCB each year how much do you think the price would go down each year?

minionesam youre forgetting the cooper, quicker than the one but cheaper to insure than the S, a skip from a one to an S would be a bit much at your age

Well ive been driving just over 2 years so i have 2 yrs no clams!

my first car was a 1.6 clio si, i paid £1800 which was an absolute rip off!

i then had a Cooper and paid £1500 which is still bad, with 1 yrs no claims

i now have an MCS with 2 yrs no claims and paying £1000 from Adrian flux, i applied for a quote of them via email and the reply via email was taking ages so i rang them and got the quote off £1000 (which i took) if i waited 2 more days for the reply via email from the same company it would have been £770.

That really annoyed me that over the phone it was £1000 and then 2 days later via email it was £230 cheaper!

Next year im going to be looking for insurance under £800 with 3 years no claims!

No sorry ddnt mention that im now 21! i passed my test in march 2005.

I failed my 1st test and then when i had time to do my 2nd test i got a new job which made it very difficult to have more lessons and then book a test! so i was just over 19 when i passed and got the clio!

i think thats right anyway ! finding it hard to do a few sums there !
