Hi guys,

I know it sounds a bit dramatic but C.I.S must be the most 'unsure' insurance company ive ever dealt with. Everyone i speak to tells me something different about modifications and what is and is not insured by them. So i tested (called back a few times) here is what i found:

Call Centre Staff #1: "we will not insure you if the vehicle has been modified in ANY way"
Call centre staff #2: "we will insure your modifications as long as they do not affect the performance of the vehicle"
Call centre staff #3: "you cannot have any tinted windows because they are illegal" (when we all know that rear window tints are legal!)
Call centre staff #4: We will insure anything that a manufacturer has put on the car or if accessories are factory fitted.
Call centre staff #5: "you can have new/aftermarket alloy wheels as long as they are the same size as the originals however you cannot have anything on the car that makes the car more visually attractive to thieves" - contridiction? In other words, you can have the most expensive alloy wheels that cost more than the car and you will be insured, but you cant have £150 tinted rear windows!???

Is it me or is this frustrating!? I asked to speak to a line manager on 3/5 occassions and was told they were busy/could not talk. Where do i stand with insurance?

CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A GOOD INSURANCE COMPANY THAT INSURE 18YRS (SO NO NO CLAIMS!) AND ARE AS CHEAP AS CIS.??

Hi, I am 18 and admiral is one of thos only companies I could find that will insure an under-25 with a modded car, they don't however cover the modifications if you damage them or they get stolen which doesnt really matter. Another advanatge is they give you another years no claims every 10 months so you quickly get a good discount - I have 2 years no claims!

im 19 and have been looking for insurance for an R56 S.....its a nightmare.....they are so funny about mods like wheels and tints....its ridiculous! i have 2 year no claims also....would love to hear of any insurance companies who insure under 21s at good prices?????????

Try HIC. They did my insurance with a modded car under 18. Phone number 0870 8148 814. Not sure how they compare to CIS tho.
They wont charge you extra for mods as long as they dont increase the bhp of the car excluding, although they won't charge you extra for exhaust system or air filter. They will also replace ure mods with like for like incase of an accident. Worth a try

Just insured my sons car for him (a ford ka) and churchills were by far the cheapest for him . Probably dont mean nowt but give em a try ,it cant hurt can it!!

hic look good but say they wont insure unless at least 19 - are you sure they would insure you Andy?
