Young driver insurance on R50 Cooper I've been given a great opportunity to own a fabulous, very very well looked after R50 Cooper for very cheap money from a good friend of mine. The spec list is tremendous for the price - 2001/51 R50 Cooper Pure Silver Black Roof Chili Pack Full Panther Leather A/C ASC BOOST CD Full Panoramic Sunroof 6 CD Autochanger Tints FSH and its only done 11000 miles since they got it in 2002 (bought it with 22k miles on the clock) Anyway enough of that, Ive been offered it silly cheap, and the guy who bought it for his son for his 17th birthday says that he was £1200 to insure, but he didn't mention who with (considering the car was only just over 6 months old at this point) Anyone have any ideas how low I can go on insurance, and where to go?? Any answers would be gratefully recieved. Thanks very much in advance, Ollie Tebbutt. Last edited by mister.t; Jul 20th, 2007 at 06:46 PM. Reason: More spec than I thought :)

I can also recommend Greenlight. Their quote was by far the best for me. ![]() 2006 MINI Cooper with JCW Sound Kit - sold July 2009 Now driving Golf VI GT TSI 1.4 160PS

Possibly. I'm 22 so it wasn't an issue. The problem with Bell (and similar) are that they will only replace the standard parts of the car. So, if you have one of the packages (e.g. Pepper) you have to declare it but the parts are not actually covered. That's no good for me as I have a very spec'd up car! ![]() 2006 MINI Cooper with JCW Sound Kit - sold July 2009 Now driving Golf VI GT TSI 1.4 160PS

I've got an R50 One, I passed my test 6 months ago today, and I'm 18 on December 31st. Insured with MINI Insurance on my own policy it costs me just over £2k, possibly going down to £1300 at the end of the year ![]() My car is a 2004 (53) Mini One PEPPER Pack with Spoiler, Sunroof, 15" Alloys and 28,000 on the clock (at the time). So I can imagine the £1200 your mate quoted you was with being on a parents insurance, it's how you want to do it; - Build your own NCB and not risk your parents' NCB and pay a LOT more. - Go on parents' insuance, lower premium but risks parents NCB

| Im on my Dads motor trader policy, it costs just over £500 a year with a 1k excess to insure my one, but it allows me to drive any 1.6. Also means you can do any mods without any insurance increase, hopfully start looking into MCS in a few months time . The cheapest quote i had to go on my own policy was £1950 and that was with virgin. Frankly on a cooper i dont think you stand much of a chance at getting 'cheap' insurance. ![]() Retrofit Armrest. 4300k HIDs. Ipod Link. 18" Nine Spoke Alloys. LCR Front Splitter. Debadged.
