Greenlight Insurance - "Unable to quote"

After hearing all the good things people have to say about greenlight on here, I decided to get a quote as I will be 21 this month, and my insurance is up for renewal - I had tried previously but they can't insure under 21s.

I filled in the form to get a quote, but I got a reply saying that they were "unable to quote this group car for drivers under the age of 25 if the value is over £17,000".

Has anyone else had this? I'm sure I have read of people <25 on here who have insured brand new MCSs with greenlight. I haven't heard of any other insurance companies who refuse to quote over a certain value under a certain age.

Do you have at least 1 year NCB? That seems to be one of Greenlight's criteria from briefly scanning their hot hatch insurance page.

I have never tried to obtain a quote from Greenlight, but I know of a handful of insurance companies that will not insure certain group cars for drivers under 25.

I am insured with Bell Direct. They were about £500 cheaper than my next nearest quote (I'm 24). Unfortunately they are part of the Admiral Group who are apparently not overly keen on modifications, which with a MINI can be a pain. Give them a try, just make sure you declare everything.

I'm back with Admiral again for insurance on my S. Norwich Union declined to quote me because i was under 25 as well.

I think the Admiral group are the only insurance group or company that seem to want to touch us younger male drivers in expensive/powerful cars as a whole

United-Kingdom Car Insurance Renewal

Hi MINI'ers

Can anyone recommend a good insurance company to renew my car (which I know is not a MINI but I still need insurance despite this minor defect!) ? Mine is due for renewal end of January and ideally would like to shop around for the best quote, fully comp. for myself. Thanks.

I am with Admiral at the moment, haven't had a renewal notice yet so not sure what price they are going to come through with - but Direct Line are cheapest at the moment with £845 (3 years NCB)

Thanks! Sounds quite high, depends on your age, etc and I won't ask you for those details - however will definately give them a try. I am 42 yeasr so maybe that's why I get off a little more lightly?

Just spoken to Adrian Flux - they quoted £806 through NIG which is what I will be going for unless Admiral are stupidly cheap (they did cok up 2 years ago and charge me £400 )
