Doubt you'll get anything lower than 2k on a Cooper at 18, i'm 19 with 1 Years NCB on my OWN policy and quotes for a Cooper are only just below £1,500, i'm paying about 1k for my One

Don't listen to anyone who says that you'll get away with fronting, because I promise you if the insurance company find out if you have a crash, you will be sorry..

It sounds like his mother is named as the main driver (otherwise her no claims bonus wouldnt matter). This is obviously fine if it is true, but otherwise is a misrepresentation which could cause difficulties in the event of a claim. Its not a direct comparison with you insuring a car under your own name.

i was payin rougly 1500 at 18 (female), with an excess of 450, never thort id have to claim, but some idiots ran across the roof, but luckily i managed to sell the mini for a little bit less than i originaly wanted, but the repairs were just short of 2k!
Id advise anyone at a young age to probably get a one!

The thing is the quotes were done with my mum as main driver and me as additional driver, and to be honest she would be the main driver anyway. well now ive advertised the car on this site and others to see if we can make back the money we spent, Mini Luton are also coming to value the car tomorow, so im hoping they do like the fact it has the CHILI pack and full leather etc and offer me a good deal. Im wondering if i purchase a new mini will they give me anymore for my car?

i got my one when i was 17, i have found 19 seems to be the magic age at which companies are happy to insure you on a cooper with you as the named driver. very annoying as i would of loved an s but settled with a one like a lot of ppl my age on here. was 19 on sunday alredy looking for an s (still a pipe dream).

I found direct line cheap when my car was standard but they hav a no mod policy if you are under 25. Good luck with you search!!!!

Go second named driver through Tesco Value - do it 3/4 years and you get the no claims bonus over the years aswell.

Stick your old man down as the primary driver seen as he bought it in the first place!

And if the '2nd named driver' is actually the main driver, that would be ever so slightly wrong Fronting I believe its called............

Indeed, this is a bit naughty.

Have you done a pass plus? I did that back in the day and I got my policy reduced a bit.

A company called Equity Redstar will insure you on that. Used them when I was 18 with my Cooper. I recall that it was a sub-divsion of premium choice that did it. Cost me £980 for the year and I had 3 points at the time too
