| MINI2 Newbie | Just a heads up for under 25's, just insured my ''02 MCS with Direct Line for £700. I'm 21 with 4 years protected NCB. Fully comprehensive cover with protected NCB, Legal cover, premium guaranteed not to rise next year, no loss of NCB for claims against uninsured drivers and vandelism, plus all your standard features. Miles cheaper than Elephant, Confused and Tesco Compare and marginaly cheaper than Tesco Car Insurance and MINI insurance. Tim |

Online | Noticing you're only 21, the vandalism and uninsured driver stuff only applies to over 22's. So you won't have that yet .However, I must vouch for them. I'm going to insure my new R56 MCS for just over £1000 with 2 NCB . No one else could touch that. |

Online | Oh! I didn't know that. I thought that applied across the board of the UK. I'll check myself when I get my quote again. Hopefully I won't have to worry too much yet as I'm getting a weeks free insurance with MINI from when I pick it up .Last edited by Tunster : Mar 27th, 2008 at 09:38 AM. Reason: Grammer! |

Online | I don't think I'll be going with Direct Line now . Just had the dealer ring up with the reg and details for the 7 days free insurance. Got that all sorted, then the person at MINI insurance did a quote for me for 2 NCB at £650 for the whole year! That's almost half the price off the nearest I'd got from Direct Line at £1100. They've made me very happy . |

Offline | That is pretty good. MINI were pants when I got a quote from them yesterday - £780 for a new MCS. I am 33 on Sat, full no claims discount. I am going with e-sure at almost half that pice. S. |

Offline | Yer I found direct line the cheapest for me (17 with r56 mini one so obv. no ncb) so still over £2000!!!!!!!!!!!!!, however they were rubbish about my jcw kit as they originally said it was fine as it had been fitted by a dealer, two days later they changed their mind and said i had to be over 25!!!! |

Offline | Careful with Elephant though, as I'm sure my policy states no modifications! When I get home, I'll dig out how much I paid, to see how it compares with Direct Line - I'm sure DL were more expensive when I asked for a quote (23 with 6 NCB). ![]() |

Offline | Direct Line will not insure a car for an under 25 if its modified in any way (that includes JCW Body Kit, etc etc) Elephant will insure a vehicle for an under 25 with modifications, BUT they wont cover the modifications (as far am im aware this is the case with the Admiral group) |

Offline | Ah, so you're allowed to modify the car with Elephant, but they don't cover the extras? I haven't looked into it properly yet...didn't think I'd want to modify my MCS when I first bought it...then I joined here ![]() ![]() |

Online | Word of warning..... don't sign up to any Booster Policies. Especially if your starting out driving. I've lost a years NCB as I've done two of these in a row and then when moving company, they'd only accept it as one. |

Offline | Not sure why that is, when i left Elephant they sent me renewal docs which had number of NCB stated and this counted as proof of no claims when i started with A Flux. I guess insurance companies dont work the same for everyone. |

Offline | Whenever I've moved insurance companies (which is every year), you just need to send your last insurance policy / certificate as proof of your NCB. I've been driving 6 years, and have 6 years NCB - the usual rule is that you can't earn NCB until after 1 year of driving, but my first insurance company (CIS), gave me 1 year free for joining. No insurance company has questioned it. ![]() |
