| MINI2 Newbie | Advice on best insurer I am due to take delivery of my third Cooper S at the end of the month. I have gone all out in terms of spec on this - will summarise below as may need it for any advice any fellow members can give: Cooper S with Chili Pack JCW Aero Kit 17" Web Spoke Alloys Tinted Rear Windows Visibility Pack I insure my current R56 Cooper S with Mini Insurance, however after contacting them for a revised policy price today, they want a substantial amount more for my new car, mainly because of the bodykit! Can anyone advise as to which insurer offers best cover with aforementioned modifications? I am 25 years old (26 in July), have 3 years NCD, no claims/convictions, vehicle garaged overnight. I find it crazy that as soon as you mention its a Mini insurers ask what modifications yet my parents have BMW and Range Rovers both of which have been spec'd up but they don't need to specify what has been changed on their policies i.e. different wheels, etc Why are us Mini drivers seemingly penalised for the cars we drive - not wanting to rant 'n rave, but at least we are driving decent, safe, modern cars which is a lot more than can be said for some of the 'wrecks' I pass on my daily travels!!! Any advice/experience greatly appreciated - Thank you |

Online | Sorry! it's not much help but you only know if you've got a good insurance company when you need them, if you have an accident and they don't try and get out of paying you or don't put as many hurdles in the way as possible for you too jump before you get paid out .Unfortunately you wont know how good they are until you need too claim (they're all good / helpful when you're paying your premium ), by then it's too late if you have a bad one .Sorry that's just my view .![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind. Offline | It will also largely depend where you're from, N.Ireland drivers have a lot less insurance companies who will cover them. I'm with admiral who have a 10 month accelerator policy and it is the best deal I have had on my '05mcs jcw compared to others. Adrian schmucks wanted £1627 for the honour. Also try Greenlight as they gave me the best deal by far on my renewal and are mod friendly and even pointed that out in the quote they gave me. |

Online | No sorry!, you'd be better of taking advice from someone who has been in a similar situation as yourself, took out insurance, but unfortunately has had to make a claim (possibly with it being their fault) and the insurance has treated them well, good (like a human-being) etc... etc... and paid out while doing so .I'm sure someone will be along sooner or later too advise, and I'm almost sure that there are some insurance companies like that somewhere, if so I've not found them (experiencing a few bad claims, non my fault ) .![]() ![]() ![]() Destined to live life £5 behind.
