As I'm always dreaming, just out of interest, I made myself 19, and tried to get a quote on a 56 plate R56 Cooper S. I was a named driver on the policy, and got a fairly good quote of £1900 - Not bad I thought. Then I scrolled to the bottom of the quotes, and couldn't quite believe my eyes



I still haven't stopped laughing, and no this is NO photoshop or other!!

Needless to say, I'm sure I won't be looking into this for some time...

got my cooper s at 20 and got quotes £5500 by norwich union.
think basically they were sayin f***k off we dont insure young chavs on group 15 cars.

I got quote on my first MINI ONE at 18 from Norwich Union - £3000

Needless to say I didnt take them up on it, and instead went to Churchill for just over £1200!!

Thank god for being 21 now

Ive had another MINI ONE since then That was £958 to insure, then I got the Cooper D and with an extra years NCB (3 now) it cost just over £800

Not bad Jo - Im paying that for a 1.3 03 Plate Fiesta LX!! (Despite me being a 17 year old male with no NCB obviously) I've also had a look at an R56 Cooper at 19, and its a shade under £1k - Something to aim for

i had some rather ridiculous quotes too

firstly when i got my cooper 2 weeks after my 17th, had quotes of £5k

and even more ridiculous when i got my 06 cooperS just after my 18th, things in the ballpark of £8k!

thats still alot of money, whys that? mine fully insured with 10k worth of mods (non performance enhancing though) its £400 fully comp, unlimited miles, kept in garage and used for social ad commuting with adrian flux.

Well how about this granted I am 17 and my mini one has the jcw bodykit but a local brokers gave me a quote for wait for it.............................£8200!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And im still paying 2500 so please don't make me jealous when you say a £2000 quote is ridiculous

I have had some shocking quotes from Endsleigh for car insurance. I was looking at an S3 before the GP and they wanted £20k.

When I was in Uni though, they were excellent on room insurance.
