ive just got a 2003 cooper S, on the car sale receipt it says chili in brackets next to the engine size. i went to change my car over on the insurance from my old golf (grp 8) my insurance that was already £400 in feb was to go up by £290 ontop so my insurance would be £690?!

im 26, 7 years ncb, 1 N/F accident and i have my mother on my policy as a named driver.

when the guy was entering my car reg number it was coming in as a standard cooper s, when i done online quotes using my car reg it would only bring up a standard cooper s not the chili pack. To add the standard cooper s on to my policy it would increase by £157- but to add the mini with the chili its £290- how does that work?

Cos i need the car now i said its a standard cooper S and paid the £157. ive worked in the insurance game i know about telling the truth about the car but im a bit confused- would my car show up as a cooper s with chili using just the reg- or is this something i need to add later?

the insurer was elephant and i would shop around but i need the insurance tonight.

Mine was the same - showed as standard Cooper S, and not Chilli Pack. Had to ring them up to add the Chilli part.

I'm 23, 6 years NCB, no accidents / points, parking on a street, with my fiance as a named driver (provisional licence). I went with Elephant as well, although Bell was also around the same price (they could check each others quotes - same company I suspect). Think my insurance wasn't much more than yours.
