United-Kingdom help please! r56 mini one insurance

hey
We have put a deposit down on a R56 mini one from 2007, and are trying to find out about insurance
ive found it to be very expensive, as was kind of expected, but still having some problems so would definatley appreciate some help!
The car we are going for has a boot spoiler and 16" bridge spoke alloys which look great! But as I am going to be 17 went i drive it in a couple of months, most insurance companies will not ensure me with the alloys and the spoiler!
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with insurance companies not allowing alloys as I really don't want to take them off!
Also, in 2007 was to the rear roof spoiler part of the pepper pack, if it was that is ok, but ive been given different information for different dealerships!

thanks very much in advance!
Sorry for my Ignorance!!!

You shouldn have any problem with the bridge spokes as presumeably they were fitted at the factory so are not classed as a modification, the boot spoiler with the pepper pack isnt so much a spoiler as it isn't any higher than the roof line its just flush so you probs have the cooper or s or aero spoiler which you will have to notify them about. Try Norwich Union I found them the best last year when insuring my r56 one when i was 17 make sure they know that it is all bmw parts and fitting. YOu could also try their rapid bonus scheme which is a 9month policy which gives you a years ncb. Hope this helps, I know your pain I found it even harder with my jcw bodykit and spoiler!!!

When I had my MINI ONE with Pepper pack.. with 16" alloys and a roof spoiler, I insured it as a 'MINI ONE PEPPER' with the spoiler listed as a modification.

My insurance company said that because the 16" alloys were part of the Pepper pack (although an upgraded part) they were fine and didn't need declaring seperatly. The spoiler however was different.

Your 16" alloys are also part of the Pepper pack so you shouldnt have the need to declare them, however some insurance companies differ so its best to check Also, alot of companies won't insure under 25's with modifications....my ONE was insured with Zurich and they didn't mind, but companies like Tesco, Churchill, Direct Line etc won't.

Another thing is that some companies seem to view modifications in different ways. Some seem to say if it came like it from the factory, then its not a modification, others say anything other than the std spec is a modification.

i had the same problem,
directline would not insure me on my mini one due to the model having a pepper pack.
admiral manage to insure me cheap.. i did the policy in my dad's name with me as a additional driver and admiral give you a NCB after every year too.
hope this helps
