Who does everyone use for insurance?

Just curious to see who everyone is with and who they think is best for their modified MINI's? I find it jumps a lot for insuring a body kit! Had a fall out with Direct Line over my age! But got them to insure me with my kit after I threatened to leave them.

Also the "mileage" how do they check this if you were to have an accident? I.e if you basically lied and said you only did say 6000 a year but really did around 12000

Cheers everybody

they call me mellow yellow!

Its mad, some bump it up massive. One company wanted £600 more for my rear strips and front spots! I've got 15 yrs no clamis muwhahahaha and never pay more than £350 fully comp. I did in the end go with mini, direct line quoted me £290 with the extras, mini was £320 - so I went with them :-)

if u smash your car the insurance company may want to see your mot documents which will have some idea of what mileage you've done. Got a mate who done what you said and his insurance was void which f*ucked him over a treat, . Also i found that mini insurance was the cheapest for me.

Im 23 with 4 yrs NCD driving a 2004 Cooper S cabriolet with aero kit/ 18 inch alloys. Im with Adrian Flux and pay £540 fully comp. I was with elephant prior to this who would have charged me £700 or so.

I would give Flux a call, I certianly couldnt find cheaper (and they are very good about any mods!!)

I'm currently with admiral and paying £560. MINI insurance would not insure me because of my age (22) and also for the fact that they couldn't insure me for the one modification made to the car (a JCW sound kit) even though it obviously makes no difference to its performance. Admiral seems the best for younger drivers and they are also accomodating of modifications to cars.

Im with direct line, i was paying £320 for my 206 1.6 16 and they wanted £320 for the new mini, even though the online quote was £230.

So, i rang them up and they said they can't give me that price unless i cancel the policy and start a new 1 which has a £30 transfer fee. But i managed to get for £230 without the charge.

They seem to comply alot better when you say you've found a cheaper quote elsewher , etc, as they dont want to lose custom.

I am with elephant and have found them excellent.

Been with them a few years and have even had an accident which they dealt with painlessly.

My car is modified and each time I add new mods they are very helpful and only charge a small fee extra.

Cheaper than any of the compare websites too.

Each year when they send through the renewal, I give them a call to haggle the price down and they are always obliging to do so.

I've had a similar experience to mooneymini but with Bell, no probs adding mods and extra fee seemed quite reasonable. Plus they give full market value if your car is total loss, which fortunately has only happened to me the once so I can't compare with any other companies, but I was impressed at getting a sensible amount without weeks of haggling.

Elephant for me. I have been with them for years now. Every year they send me a renewal quote which I have always been able to beat but they always match it when I go back to them. I put a Miltek cat back on and they only charged me an extra £20 which I thought was ok. Someone ran into the back of me last year and they delt with it well.....I even got a Lexus as a replacement car while mine was being fixed!
I have a 2003 Cooper S. Can't remember how much I pay I think it's between £350 and £400 though. I'm 34 with 6 year no claims and no points.
