Option or Mod? I have recently had the JCW Aero Kit fitted to my R56 Cooper S. When I phoned my insurace company, Zurich Connect, to advise them I'd had the 'Factory approved Aero Kit ' fitted by Mini, I was absolutely amazed when told that, as it had not been fitted when I purchased the car from new, it would be classed as a mod. They would not provide cover for mods of any type. As I am not prepared to drive my 20k plus car only two thirds insured, I had no alternative but to cancel my policy mid-term, and then seek cover elsewhere. Funny, but I had no problems with my new insurance company Admiral. So, who decides when an option becomes a mod? |
