Advice about Mini insurance.

Hi
My Wife and I will be getting our mini ONE at the end of November and would br grateful for any valuable advice on insurance. She has no NCB but has been driving on my insurance as a second driver for too long.
I'm also concerned about protecting the full cost of the car inc. extras.
What about Minis' own insurance?any good?
Thanks in advance
Crunchie

Looking at your profile, you're the ideal risk for most mainstream insurers - i.e. you're married, old and drive a relatively low group car!

You shouldn't have any problems in getting insured. Most on-line insurers (Admiral, Churchill & Direct Line) give you an introductory discount if you have not had any claims on other policies. Admiral/Elephant also have "Bonus Accelerator Policies" too.

I insured my ONE with MINI Cover. They were very competitive (cheaper that i'd paid for my previous Ford ka) so I was well chuffed. I also liked the idea that any repairs would be done at MINI dealer without any hassle.
Hope the next month flys by for you!

Igor thinks you should speak to an Insurance Broker. Igor has done that in the past and had good rates.

Igor thinks though it might be better for you to be put on her insurance .

Igor knows a Traffic Poliemans wife and she gets lower insurance than husband .

Igor does thinks that Mini insurance is good though.

Yep me too!

My Ka was insured with Directline who wanted loads more to change it to the Mini as they were adding lots for the slat pack, alloys etc....

Mini insurance gave me the lowest quote and it's somehow nice to have mini insurance to go with all the other mini stuff...

Black ONE - Salt Pack, Boost, CD Changer, ASC&T, 8 Spokes, Alarm and Glovebox

Arrived 16/10/02 and I love it

Driving lights, aero spoiler and some chrome bits to follow...

MINI insurance beat local brokers for us quite easily (full NCB, mid thirties, wife named driver etc.) Impressed with their service both in arranging and when I had to sort out cover for a BMW loaner. They include BMW key insurance at no cost which was nice to find out a weeek or two later when a letter and key fob arrived. All in all I'm very impressed (which is saying something when I really dislike insurance companies!). And yeah, it's nice to keep it all MINI

Good luck.

MINI insurance were £130 more for me/wifey than Directline for similar cover. £240 V £370 so a big difference in percentage terms.

Red/Black R56 Cooper Stripes, CHILLI, ASC+T, MINI HiFi, Piano Black Dash, Red Colour Line, Heated Mirrors/Jets, Spare Wheel, Smoker Pack!
Mods - Cooper S pedals, Cheqered interior mirror, chrome side repeaters

Ive just thought, I don't think I ever told MINI cover about the salt pack and alloys and stuff but they never asked. I wonder if these are classed as modifications even though they're factory extras. Thats got me thinking now.

I verified this when I received my policy. No additional premium was required for me, in fact they didn't seem too worried about it. I guess it would be the norm rather than the exception.

I recently got my new Cooper insured, having only just learned to drive few months ago (I left it late!) I was having real probalems with No NCB.

Cheapest quote I got, by far, was with Tescos bizarrely. Took out a policy.

Of course, service counts, and don't actually know what they'll be like if something goes wrong. But if it;s muchos cheapness you're looking for, get a quote from them.
