Anyone got a clue who will insure me for under 1.5k got the mini on the drive & so far cant get comprehensive insurance. Really dont want to go 3rd party if i can avoid it
There are other threads on this topic, but £1500 seems about par for the course. A friend of mine tried to insure his daughter on a MINI One and was quoted £1500 so bought her a Clio instead...sorry I know that's not what you want to hear.
Hi im only 20 and was 19 when i brought my 2004 Mini Cooper S JCW and i payed:
£1125 @ 19 1yr NCB
£942 @ 20 2yr NCB
£670 @ 21 3yr NCB (which i am in a couple of weeks...)
My insurance consists of car parked on the road (coz im lazy..)
Fully Comp with a £350 excess
8000miles a year
With my dad as a named driver (as he steals my car..)
Admiral is my insurance company..go only and do a quote they are the cheapest around for younger drivers...
Im jealous..in my 3 years of driving, I have never been less than £1600..but, have always been a named driver..so swings in roundabouts really..and everytime I got a new car they got more expensive!
Also depends on the area you live too. I live in Lincolnshire and always pay about half of what my friends who live in Norwich pay and they have more underpowered cars than a mini cooper too.

They refused to continue my cover when I switched cars temporarily, because the car I was swapping into (very briefly) "wasn't fast enough" for them...

Brokenangel you don't state where you are in the country, that is, how 'loaded' your premium will be, but just ask any insurer the question 'anything I can do to reduce?' You may find some additional driver training may help, IE Pass plus noting your age.
