Adrian flux - advice needed

Hi,

I got a quote from adrian flux(from groupama insurance company) for £1800 for a mini cooper 2007 pepper pack(with market value £8800). Excess is £400 with legal cover. I have been driving for 1 year and 3 months but as a named driver on my dad's policy. So no NCB. I am 23 years old, no points or criminal records on license.

Cheapest quote from price comparison sites like confused, moneysupermarket etc was £4000 from admiral without pepper pack. With pepper pack elephant quoted me £4500. So considering quotes from other companies, adrian flux is really cheap.

So I was wondering whether i should be worried about the price. I searched this site and got good opinions about adrian flux. Dont know much about groupama insurance. If you have any experience with adrian flux or groupama company please reply. I have already paid for the insurance, waiting for certificate and other policy details.

Sorry about the long post. I really appreciate any help, advice. Thanks

EDIT: Both are comprehensive cover.

I'm with Adrian Flux - have been on my last 3 cars, can't fault them. I'd go direct though - no idea who or what this "groupama" insurance is?

That said (given the details you've provided), £1800/year still seems VERY expensive to me? Are you in an expensive postcode insurance-wise? How many miles/year are you declaring? Where is the car kept overnight?

I am getting the insurance directly from adrian flux. As adrian flux is just an insurance broker. So they get insurance from other insurance companies. I live in E9, according to this website has highest risk factor. I declared 3k miles per year. Car will be kept in residential parking area, private property, off the public road. I thought £1800 was really cheap. . Cheapest price i got so far with low excess.

Have you ever had a claim with adrian flux? Thanks for the response.

Ahh, I thought you meant the other way round - which once I'd posted I thought was strange, given that Adrian Flux are a broker anyway.

I've never had to claim with AF, but I know people who have (for various reasons - fault claim, non-fault claim, vandalism etc.) and they've all provided positive reports about the experience.

I have heard good things about Adrian Flux. good if there is a sporty edge to the car. i got mine with Budget Insurance (as they were the cheapest on comparison websites at the time). they seem fine. all depends on the best offer at the time, or if they don't vary much, the one with best reviews.

If your not in a bad area try Tesco.

They have just changed underwriters. Wont touch hi risk areas now.. so wont insure me at current place but at new place no one could touch them.

AFlux were cheapest at current gaff by a long shot an very helpful to boot.

here's a few comparisons
Mini insurance 1790
elephant 900
AF 650
tesco no

new place
AF 580
Tesco 416

all same.. nc cover.. free car etc..
nc

Sadly I live in a high risk area. I am happy with the price Adrian flux quoted. I hope I wont have any problems with them in the future.

One question about the certificate. The insurance certificate from Adrian flux doesn't mention any modifications like pepper pack. They also send us policy details from their underwriters(groupama) and modifications field is empty and it says no modifications. We called adrian flux and the guy said pepper pack is on their system. Do you think I should get them to put that on the certificate?

I've been with Adrian Flux for several years with different cars and it's all good - I'm currently considering swapping my house & contents insurance to them as well.

Last 3 years with my S has been silly cheap considering it's parked on the street in London - just under £500, but I have 5 yrs NCB and am in my 30's.

Re details etc, my car has a pretty ott spec and I work in what is considered a "high risk" business - therefore I have every detail of the car and details of my work written down and signed off on by Adrian Flux ------- you can never be too careful with insurance companies and don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise - "don't worry, they don't need to know blah blah" etc etc.
No-one who has ever had issues come a claim would give such stupid advice.......

Having recently concluded an almost 3 year battle with an insurance company that had to go via the FOS after they refused to pay out on medical expenses over a "technicality" which was in fact ruled as unlawful refusal to pay out, I know exactly how quickly they can go from being lovely to complete #ricks - btw I'm now no longer $140,000usd in debt since they were ordered to cough up..

Re claims I have an open one with Adrian Flux at the moment after I was rear-ended over easter weekend, fairly minor damage but still £1000ish (new rear bumper basically), AF have been really good but other party has been a PITA (was arrested at scene so to be expected I guess) and that has slowed things up.......liability now admitted though so should resolve pretty quickly.

Zero No-claims Bonus

Hello from newbie,

Greetings to all.

I have just returned from the Gulf after four years and purchased a new JCW. Unfortunately, this gap from UK has lapsed my No-claims Bonus.

And the problem is that there are no companies that will take into consideration, years of no claims in the Gulf.

I am fifty-one years of age and have zero convictions, points, and claims over the past 10 years.

Is anyone aware of any companies who will give an introductory discount based on age and zero offenses?

Thanks

Ericmac

Saga do not require proof of NCB.
