I've just renewed my insurance with Swinton insurance and when choosing the model type there seems to be a bit of an anomaly. I own a '12 plate Cooper S. And quite rightly it auto detects it as S (184). But there is also on the list an option for S Chili. But there isn't an option for an S (184) with chili pack. This happens on all the price comparison sites as well.
So what I would like to clarify if anyone can help is, does anyone know what the correct option to choose when choosing the model type/trim options for a '12 plate cooper s with chili pack?
I did and they swapped me to the S Chili trim option, but I don't think it's right. I did another sample separate quote and it drops the insurance price by £1 by changing to the S Chili option.
My thoughts are the S Chili option category is from the R53 and R56 versions. And they haven't quite updated to include a S (184) Chili option.
As long as youve made it clear to them what you have, year, model, pack options etc you should be fully covered. Get them to write it on the quote or whatever they send you.
I just dropped them a mail for mine JCW, media, chilli etc and they came back and said ok we know what that is, it wasnt listed on any list as such so you can pick it off though.
