A Query on auto insurance

My Car Insurance is due for Renewal next month (june). But, suddenly I will be going abroad and will stay put for a Year.
In that situation, does it make sense to renew my Insurance?

Assuming UK, if it's kept on the road you'll need to keep it insuranced and taxed, if it's kept in a garage or on private property you can get a "laid up" policy which will cover it for theft and fire and ensure it's SORN'D. The later costs a lot less.

Most people will contact their agent, remove liability coverage and collision coverage but keep comprehensive in force. Comp covers losses 'other than collision' such as fire and theft. It's much cheaper.
