That does seem quite steep giventhe details you have given I was quoted just over £1200 for a MCS im 21, 1 yr no claims, 1 fault accident 2001, and in a low risk area. How much is the insurance on the P1 if you don't mind me asking. Andrew FRP255 www.fordracingpuma.com

Insurance Thread I think ther is another quite lenghy thread on insurance prices, do a search there were lots of good tips for a reasonable quote. I am 31, full NCB but 3 points and was quoted between £500 and £600 leaving it on a driveway. Can't remeber who from though, try to find the other thread!

I would consider giving Direct Line a call. I managed to get insured when I was 23 on my Elise for a very good price. They are by far the best insurer I have found yet. In addition they will quote you on the Mini with conversion if you state the percentage of power increase on the engine. I think i paid an extra £20 for my 135 upgrade, (about 15% increase in power). Good luck! Lotus Exige S 240

Mepa147, Insurance on the P1 last year was £900. The year before that it was only £640. Abbey National have just quoted me £840! I am confused as to why such high premiums? I am going to search here for insurance threads and see who you guys are using. May phone a firend in the industry as well. This is more troublesome than I thought. Anyone else recommend and insurance company?

I have just had my premium renewal come through and my insurance has gone up from ~£800 to £1400 since the summer. I live in an average part of London 29 years old 7 years NCB protected 3 pts for speeding Best quote on shopping around seems to be about £1300! I might have to sell my lovely car.... Has the Cooper S become the new Escort Cosworth??? Does anyone know a good but cheap insurer? Esure refused to quote as I'm under 30....

Wow - Insurance is sure expensive in the UK I have been reading this thead for a while. I am amazed at the cost of insurance and registration in the UK. I live in Ohio in the U.S. I have a 1997 Ford Explorer presently insured at a cost of $730 annually. My new MCS is only going to add $600 annually to my total. And - it will cost $48 per year to register! Cheers, Dave |

most insurers ask for value of the car, all cars have options wether metallic paint or aircon (unless u have a high end car like Maybach) but even that car has options. Most insurers are interested in non factory or dealer fitted options, body kit, chips etc. Always worth declaring them though and checking fine print of policy!
