Hi, new to this board as I am usually lurking around scoobynet as I currently run a P1.
Thinking of replacing the P1 WR with the MCS Hartge and keeping some change
So, I have been looking into insurance. Phoned both Tescos and AA for quotes, only to be astonished at how much they want, £645 and £750 That's without any modifications
I have a clean record with full NCB, 32, garaged, very favourable postcode.
Who do you guys use and/or recommend, particularly with the Hartge conversion in mind.
I haven't found much on insirance when searching this board.
I think ther is another quite lenghy thread on insurance prices, do a search there were lots of good tips for a reasonable quote.
I am 31, full NCB but 3 points and was quoted between £500 and £600 leaving it on a driveway. Can't remeber who from though, try to find the other thread!
I would consider giving Direct Line a call. I managed to get insured when I was 23 on my Elise for a very good price.
They are by far the best insurer I have found yet. In addition they will quote you on the Mini with conversion if you state the percentage of power increase on the engine.
I think i paid an extra £20 for my 135 upgrade, (about 15% increase in power).
Insurance on the P1 last year was £900. The year before that it was only £640.
Abbey National have just quoted me £840!
I am confused as to why such high premiums? I am going to search here for insurance threads and see who you guys are using. May phone a firend in the industry as well.
This is more troublesome than I thought. Anyone else recommend and insurance company?
I have been reading this thead for a while. I am amazed at the cost of insurance and registration in the UK.
I live in Ohio in the U.S. I have a 1997 Ford Explorer presently insured at a cost of $730 annually. My new MCS is only going to add $600 annually to my total. And - it will cost $48 per year to register!
How many people have assumed that if they have a chilli pack that this is covered by their insurance.
How many people have explicitly stated that they have a chilli pack and leather to their insurers.
most insurers ask for value of the car, all cars have options wether metallic paint or aircon (unless u have a high end car like Maybach) but even that car has options.
Most insurers are interested in non factory or dealer fitted options, body kit, chips etc.
Always worth declaring them though and checking fine print of policy!
