Another Insurance question

Has anyone debadged their Cooper S and if so what does your insurance company think of it? The reason I ask is that I know a woman who debaged her Vectra GSi and got quite a bit of the insurance because of it. I am thinking of getting my S debadged.

I'm probably the only person in the universe who doesn't know what you mean by debadging?! Please explain what you're talking about.

It means taking off the badge at the back on the car, which says Cooper S

so... is this an attempt to misrepresent what you've got to the insurance company (couldn't be so, I'm sure) or an attempt to lower your premium by making the car less attractive to REALLY stupid thieves who don't notice the air intake on the bonnet????

Redleg13 I guess that the insurance company would need some sort of proof that the car was debadged so I would be getting my dealer to do it for me. The other reason I want to debadge the car is so that no punk will do it for me.

I know that the thief would have to be stupid not to know, but I would have though that it was the same case with the Vectra GSi. It would be a stupid thief that thought a Vectra GSi was a GLS.

I don't think the insurance company would offer any discount. Could be an excuse for them to raise the premium, they don't normally need much of an excuse do they?

Remember the sidevents have an "S" on them too.

That is a good point Ken. I have just been told by the dealership that the sidevents with S on they cannot be removed. I am still going to get the badge on the back taken off, I think.
