Unhappy UK Car Insurance - Need Recommendations - after a ban

I've just finished a 12month ban for speeding. I got clocked by the cops at 124m.p.h. Just before the ban, I was involved in an accident and made a big claim.

My Mini Cooper arrives next month so i've been shopping around for some car insurance. The cheapest fully comp. insurance quote so far is £1575!!

Any company recommendations for a cheaper quote?

Also, is there any way of getting around the problem...
family car insurance? (5cars in the family)
or insuring the car for any driver over 23?
